Helen and her fellow panelists, Kelly Dittmann, MBA of Sustene Global and Annette Selmeier of Effective Energy Invest GmbH, will be discussing Women Entrepreneurs in #Cleantech. They will offer cutting-edge perspectives on gender equity in #climatechange resilience, providing attendees with actionable strategies to navigate current challenges and seize opportunities. Women+ in Climate Tech's webinar on IRA funding for women+ had an astounding number of registrants (over 350), marking a significant milestone as the largest gathering we've ever hosted. During the webinar, our panelists — Vanessa Z Chan, Justina W. Gallegos Maya Goodwin, Eva Garland, and Leah Garden provided invaluable insights on female+ workforce development as well as non-dilutive funding for women+ entrepreneurs. On the issue of workforce: women remain underrepresented in clean energy (25%). According to Moody's Ratings’, the U.S. economy stands to gain a staggering $1 trillion over the next decade if female labor force participation reaches levels seen in other developed nations. Addressing gender disparities in fields crucial to the energy transition not only makes sense from a workforce standpoint but also will be a boon for the economy. On entrepreneurship: Fundera by NerdWallet maps the staggering growth in women-owned businesses and their substantial economic impact ($1.8 trillion a year). Boston Consulting Group (BCG) reports startups co-founded by women generated 10% more cumulative revenue over five years, and women-founded startups are more financially efficient, yielding 78 cents for every dollar of funding, compared to 31 cents for male-founded startups. Despite this, female entrepreneurs face significant hurdles in accessing funding, with only a fraction (6.6%) of climate tech VC investment directed towards women-founded companies. Women+ in Climate Tech is committed to supporting women+ in the workforce and in entrepreneurship. Did you know that out of 319 climate tech funding rounds, only 21 were allocated to female-founded companies? That's just 6.6% according to Pitchbook, and Crunchbase's analysis isn't much better at 10%. But here's the silver lining... The data shows compelling financial reasons for change. Female-founded companies outshine their counterparts in revenue generation and exit timelines. Entrepreneurs for Impact kindly included #WiCT's Helen (Bertelli) Whiteley as part of its climate CEO peer group community, when summarizing these findings and sharing resources for women founders.
