Last week we had an exciting celebration to welcome our 2024-2026 board members! We are proud and excited to introduce our new cohort: Ashleigh Moore, Secretary Ali Wesley, Treasurer Rylie Rizzo, Marketing Director Brooke Weinert, Membership Chair These ladies will join our 2023-2025 cohort, Alicia Roedell, President Emilie Vicchio, Vice President Lisa Ramsey, Sponsorship Chair Claire Flamand, Events Chair Pelumi Olaleye BSc, MBA, Scholarship Chair A HUGE thank you to our outgoing board members who provided support to enhance our programming and grow our members. Dalia Leask, Secretary Kelley Svoboda, Treasurer Hailey Daniels, MBA, Marketing Chair Ruthann Reese, Membership Chair Why do we have only a handful of new board members? In 2023, WID implemented a staggered board structure, in which our board is divided into two cohorts, each serving overlapping terms. We do this to maintain institutional knowledge, stability and strategic continuity in our board governance. Our new board is excited to tackle the next year as we continue to grow our network to provide a platform for women in national security to connect, learn and grow. #iamWID #WIDsanDiego

About us
Women In Defense (WID) San Diego Chapter provides a dynamic, forward-thinking community for developing leadership skills, cultivating relationships, as well as mentoring, and education through a variety of national and regional events as well as cultivating and supporting the advancement and recognition of women in all aspects of national security. The Women in Defense organization was founded in 1979 and became an affiliate of National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) in 2004. Today there are nearly 4,000 individual members, both men and women, with 20 chapters in key geographic locations across the United States. Through the efforts of several women leaders, the San Diego chapter was established in 2005 to enable members of the San Diego defense community to participate locally in this unique organization. Our goal is to work together to strengthen the roles of women working in San Diego’s defense industry. We aim to create a sense of community where we can share stories and mentor each other, collectively heightening the impact of women supporting all levels of national security. As well, we nurture the next generation of women through scholarships, involvement in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) events, and mentorship opportunities. WID San Diego is comprised of more than 150 government, civilian, industry, and military members that represent more than 40 San Diego organizations. Become a member today!
