Listen now at: https://lnkd.in/enzsqyUP Every episode tells a story of a backlash against movements of progress during the Civil Rights era - from the riots against integration in Boston public schools, to the gun control bill in California passed specifically to disarm the Black Panthers. Taken together, these stories reveal how inequity remains threaded into our everyday, trouble standard narratives of American history and political progress, and center the voices of organizers and scholars who teach us about what progress actually looks like. And, also, the show is hosted by me!  Working on this project was easily one of most challenging things I've ever done. It was also one of the most edifying. I'm grateful for the people I interviewed for this show, who shared their stories, revealed histories I never knew existed, challenged my thinking, and helped me see our world in a clearer, sharper way. They changed the way I thought about time, about history, about how we build better worlds, and about what building better worlds even means. Finally - so many people were involved in bringing this show to your ears, and I am so grateful to all of them. In particular, I am forever indebted to the team that worked on this show with me - editor extraordinaire Lindsey Kratochwill and powerhouse producers Grace Lynch, Taylor Williamson, and Abbey Delk. This work would not be possible without the incredible talents and creativity of our brilliant (and growing!) team, and our deeply valued clients who have trusted us with their most precious stories and goals. As a small and bootstrapped business, we’re extremely proud of how we’ve weathered the past several tumultuous years in the media landscape. There’s been a pinch of luck, a lot of hard work and much thoughtful positioning for ourselves and our clients.
