What do dog food and donuts have to do with medicine? With all the news and attention on dyes (and the FDA ban on Red No. 3), I’d like to remind people about Titanium Dioxide. While not thought of as a dye, it’s used as a whitening agent/colorant and completely unnecessary in any consumable products. This ingredient needs to also be at the top of the chopping block along with Red Dye No 40. If you’re unfamiliar with this ingredient, look it up. Dunkin Donuts AND PetCo banned Titanium Dioxide from all of their products, yet you can find it in numerous common OTC medicines. So why are we holding dog food and donuts to a higher standard than medicine?
