Casual Friday and I was not expecting to go to this ribbon-cutting today because I'm in the mix of multiple federal grants and the paperwork that comes along with it BUT.... I'm a sucker for a bookstore. And entrepreneurs. And new businesses. Should I keep going? If you live in the MOV, PLEASE go check out First Chapter located at 705 Market Street in downtown Parkersburg between WINE DOWN ON MARKET STREET LLC and Parkersburg Brewing LLC. Owned by the sweetest girl, Janie, I know you'll love it! Open Tuesday-Friday from 10-6 and and 12-6 on Saturday. They'll eventually be opening a coffee bar in the back and will shift their hours then. #developWoodCountyWV

It’s been almost a week since I completed my SIXTH Leadership West Virginia session!🤯 It’s hard to believe this journey is almost at an end, I am incredibly grateful for the experience and the amazing connections I have made with my truly impressive classmates.💚💙 This session was held at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs and focused on healthcare. It had been almost a decade since I had stayed on the property but it once again delivered the same energy that I remember fondly from childhood. We visited the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, The Schoolhouse Hotel and several local establishments. We heard from several classmates and amazing speakers on topics ranging from Challenges in Healthcare to Substance Use Disorder AND we watched a really cool falconry demonstration!🦉 With only one session left it’s a bittersweet feeling, but I already can’t wait to see everyone in Charleston for our final session!😊

  • Last week we hosted Rob & Tonya with InSite Consulting as part of the YesWV program, thank you to all that attended the information session!😀 For those of you who may have missed it we wanted to share a few key takeaways. First a bit of background, the YesWV is the WV Department of Economic Development's new site readiness program in which two Wood County sites are being evaluated by InSite Consulting.📍 The focus of InSite's presentation was the concept of a site being Go or No Go. Essentially a site is tossed or moved to the final 3 based on what is in the dirt long before a site visit is completed. Unfortunately, in today’s world sites are eliminated by a computer for missing information long before a consultant reads them. - No price = tossed, negotiable is out. - INFRASTRUCTURE INFORMATION IS KEY! As many of you have heard Lindsey say, we need sites BUT we also need information! Overall it was a very productive and informative visit and we will continue to polish the portfolio's of the two sites that are currently in the program and look forward to the opportunity to review more sites in the future. Team work makes the dream work - utility providers, property owners, local and state EDA's working together to prepare Wood County sites! #developWoodCountyWV #econdev

  • IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS!!!!📣📣📣 What is the Corporate Transparency Act? The CTA was enacted as part of the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020. This legislation included a host of significant updates intended to combat money laundering, tax fraud and the financing of terrorism. It requires certain business entities to disclose information about their beneficial owners to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Why You Should Care 🔹Nearly all small and medium sized businesses must file a “Beneficial Ownership Information Report” (BOI Report) in 2024. 🔹As of January 1, 2024, there are approximately 32.6 million entities that are subject to the (BOI) reporting requirement. 🔹The January 1, 2024 “effective date” has come and gone. 🔹Existing companies have until January 1, 2025 to file your first (BOI) report. 🔹Analysis and data collection can be complex and time-sensitive 🔹Penalties are steep! $500/day, up to $10,000 Learn more or file now at https://lnkd.in/g3RW6hT5 #developWoodCountyWV

  • Kate (Baker) Marlow is a nominee for the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley Emerging Business Leader of the Year award! Kate started working with me in April of 2019 and I say it ALL the time but I don't know what I'd do without her. She's smart, hardworking, forward thinking and SO deserving to be considered for this award. Excited for the Chamber's Annual Gala on September 26th to celebrate all of the nominees across all categories! And GO KATE! #developWoodCountyWV
