  • Curious about the USDA Value-Added Producer grant and wondering if you're eligible? Here are a few key points about the VAPG that will help you determine whether or not you are eligible and which project type you might want to apply for: 🥬 You have to be an agricultural producer that currently produces the raw agricultural commodity used to create your value-added product 💵 The grant requires a 1:1 match, meaning whatever grant amount you request, you also have to commit that same amount of your own funds to the project (this can be in the form of the market value of the raw commodity and/or owner and employee time spent on the project) 📃 Planning grants (up to $75,000) can be used to cover the cost of completing a Feasibility Study, Marketing Plan, or Business Plan 🏭 Working Capital grants (up to $250,000) can be used to either 1️⃣ Create a new value-added product, or 2️⃣ Expand the market for an existing value-added product that you have successfully marketed for at least two years. ✅ Working Capital grant requests over $50,000 require a completed Feasibility Study (new products) or a Business/Marketing Plan (market expansion) Looking for more information? • How to Design Ag Projects that Win Grants 🥬 💰 "Can I get a grant for my farm?" is a question I am often asked. The answer is yes, you can - but not just for having a farm. Federal, state, and even private grant funding is offered to support innovate agricultural projects that develop solutions to problems, address gaps in the industry, or move the needle within an area of interest. In this article, I discuss the types of projects that ag grants are geared toward. Since 2021, $220 million has been invested in 597 projects through USDA’s Local Agriculture Market Program (LAMP). LAMP provides grants to help local and regional food entities develop, coordinate, and expand producer to consumer marketing, local and regional food markets, and local food enterprises. The primary goals of LAMP are to:    🔹Connect and cultivate regional food economies through public-private partnerships.    🔹Support the development of business plans, feasibility studies, and strategies for value-added agricultural production and local and regional food system infrastructure.    🔹Strengthen capacity and regional food system development through community collaboration and expansion of mid-tier value chains.    🔹Improve income and economic opportunities for producers and food businesses through job creation; and    🔹Simplify the application processes and the reporting processes for the Program.   https://lnkd.in/e5BEz32g
