March is Women's History Month, a time to honor the resilience, leadership, and groundbreaking contributions of women who have shaped history. At the Worcester Community Action Council, we recognize the impact of women who have fought for equity, economic opportunity, and social justice—values at the heart of our mission. One such trailblazer is Dorothy Height, a civil rights and women’s rights activist whose work championed economic empowerment and education for marginalized communities. Known as the "godmother of the civil rights movement," Height dedicated her life to fighting poverty and advocating for policies that uplift families and communities. She once said, “Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It’s the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.” At WCAC, we honor her legacy by continuing to break down barriers, elevate voices, and create pathways to self-sufficiency for all. This month, we celebrate the women—past, present, and future—who drive change and build stronger communities. #WomensHistoryMonth #WCAC #Empowerment #StrongerTogether #DorothyHeight #CommunityAction

📢 ALL CHILDREN DREAM BIG At WCAC, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to Start Early, Dream Big. But right now, Head Start programs across the country—including ours—are facing deep uncertainty under the current administration’s proposed federal budget cuts. Head Start is more than early education—it’s a lifeline for children and families, providing critical support in nutrition, health, and family services. A cut to Head Start is a cut to our future. 💬 What’s at stake? 🚨 Fewer children receiving quality early education 🚨 Families losing access to essential support services 🚨 Communities struggling without the foundation of Head Start We urge our leaders to prioritize our children and protect this essential program. Our kids can’t wait. 📢 Join us in advocating for Head Start! ✅ Share this post ✅ Contact your local representatives ✅ Spread awareness using #StartEarlyDreamBig Our children deserve better. Let’s stand together to ensure they continue to dream big and achieve more. Massachusetts Head Start Association National Head Start Association #WCAC #HeadStart #EarlyEducationMatters
