Mouse jiggling? Falsifying timesheets? #Fauxductivity might be a symptom of poor #WorkplaceCulture...
🎨 Has anyone else heard of “fauxductivity?” This new HR term means faking productivity and, per a new Workhuman survey, 4 in 10 leaders admit to doing it. According to Workhuman’s survey of 3,000 full-time employees across the U.S., U.K., and Ireland, 38% of C-suite executives, 37% of managers, and 32% of non-managers admit to faking activity on the job. The report suggests that the phenomenon may result from poor work culture, creating a cycle of performative productivity and productivity anxiety. Employees said they felt the need to fake activity to get a better work-life balance and heal from burnout, indicating low wellbeing among respondents. To address this issue, the report recommended that organizations emphasize the quality of work and results over the quantity of time spent working. For more on the report and its findings, see the article below by Laurel Kalser featured in HR Dive https://lnkd.in/gbbMfi8U

Congratulations on your 3-year work-iversary, Michael! We’re grateful for your contributions and the positive impact you have on our team.
Last week I was fortunate enough to celebrate 3 years since I joined Workhuman. The well-wishes and congratulations' my colleagues shared served as a reminder of how quick time moves, and how profound the impact you have on the people around you can be. The past 3 years have brought new people, experiences, and lessons that I have a lot of gratitude for. Excited to see what year 4 has in store A big thank you to everyone, personally and professionally, who's played a part in these last 3 years. I'm a lucky guy to have so many amazing people in my life. And for my final thought, a shameless plug. We are back in action planning for Workhuman Live 2025. It's my favorite event of the year, and I can't wait wait to see it all come together. May 12-15 next year in Colorado. Link in the comments to check out more info

I have a goal to read 50 books in 2024 after I was so encouraged and enriched from reading 50 books last year💥! Spent all day New Year’s Day reading "The Power to Change" by Craig Groeschel Leadership Podcast. This past month, I finished reading books 35-39, including "Think Ahead" by Craig Groeschel, “People” by Mark O'Donnell, Kelly Knight and CJ DuBe', from my friend Jennifer Marion from EOS Worldwide, "Capitalizing on Kindness" by Kristin Tillquist, "Play the Man" and "Do It for A Day" by Mark Batterson. Here's the next five books I plan read to get to #50 this year including "Making Work Human" by Eric Mosley from my friend Kendall Trenchard from Workhuman, "Weird” by Craig Groeschel Leadership Podcast, "Win the Day" by Mark Batterson, and "The Ritual Effect" by Michael Norton💥! Here's a quote I love from "People": "When you lead and manage well, you begin the journey of intentionally managing human energy with heart". Be well and choose joy! Let’s be EPIC together! Find a Way! What inspires you? #kindness #motivation #bestadvice #leadership #whatinspiresme #EPICness

Recognition is more than just celebrating big wins – it’s about creating a culture of connection and belonging, where every employee feels seen and valued for their unique contributions. #RecognitionDoneRight #RecognitionRevolution
Recent research from Gallup and Workhuman reveals that both managers and individual contributors are largely unprepared to deliver personalized recognition, with only 13% of employees strongly agreeing they know how their coworkers prefer to be recognized. If all employees in an organization were better equipped to give feedback and recognition to their peers, the impact could be profound. Employees who strongly agree they know how their coworkers like to be recognized are 2.6 times more likely to strongly agree they have meaningful connections with their colleagues and 2.9 times more likely to strongly agree they feel connected to their organization’s culture. Despite the importance of individual recognition preferences, many organizations still restrict recognition to major accomplishments, projects and work anniversaries. Regular recognition can help managers ease or even eliminate tensions during difficult conversations when critical, negative feedback is necessary. Normalizing check-ins reduces the likelihood that these moments will feel overwhelmingly consequential for both parties.
