Construction at Shortstack Mississippi is full speed ahead! Utilizing a hybrid system of panelized, wood-framed walls paired with Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) has contributed to its rapid pace. In just 13 short months, 36 new multifamily units will be brought to North Portland’s historic Mississippi District. Founded by Jessy Ledesma and Anna Mackay, Shortstack Housing provides scalable solutions to middle housing development through prefabricated, mass-timber construction that is customizable to the needs of each infill site. Depending on the lot size, zoning, and community context, Shortstack can shrink and grow to deliver responsive housing as quickly as possible, with a focus on “missing middle”-scale infill development.

Our Los Angeles Studio has moved! We said farewell to the Arts District and were welcomed into a big and bright space in West Adams. The building’s original brick and exposed ceilings are right in line with our urban industrial aesthetic and we’re loving that the new digs matches our energy and ambition. This new location will help us serve you even better with more room for creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Thank you for your continued support and here’s to new beginnings!

We have been working with Monqui and AEG for nearly 10 years to find a site and the right opportunity in Portland. While we have expanded our reach beyond our founding location and home of Portland - this venue will certainly be one of most meaningful for our team! One of our favorite things about working alongside AEG, is their insistence on each venue being unique to the city it is placed. This is going to be a blast!
Monqui Presents, a preeminent Portland-based independent concert promoter, has forged a strategic alliance with AEG Presents, a global leader in concert promotion, to develop and operate a premier 4,250-capacity concert venue in the Lloyd District. Portland’s newest venue will offer flexible seating for 2,000 to 4,250 attendees, featuring a movable stage for dynamic event configurations. Spanning 68,000 square feet, the venue will be situated at the former Nordstrom building site on NE Multnomah Street, providing convenient access to transit options and ample parking in nearby Lloyd Mall structures. The venue's prime location in the Lloyd District and within the Lloyd Entertainment District boundaries, with its extensive surface and adjacent parking facilities, coupled with easy access to light rail, streetcar lines, and the recently completed north-south bike and pedestrian bridge, ensures unparalleled convenience for attendees. In addition, the site falls under the city’s CX zoning, which facilitates this development without requiring special use permits or zoning changes; a strategic alignment with city and community goals. “This is a project we’ve been working on with Don and the AEG Presents team for about ten years now – we have a great site, excellent design, and most importantly a shared vision in making the audience and artist experience a truly great one, “said Mike Quinn, Co-Owner of Monqui Presents, “We are extremely fortunate and excited about this partnership and thrilled to bring this venue to Portland.” Designed to offer the ultimate live experience, the venue will boast state-of-the-art acoustics and sightlines optimized for every patron, accommodating a diverse range of musical genres and special events—from intimate acoustic performances to electrifying EDM and everything in between. Don Strasburg, who is overseeing the project for AEG Presents in his role as President of Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest, commented: “Mike and the whole Monqui team represent the fabric of Portland. We worked together to find the perfect site and designed the perfect venue - we are excited to deliver the city of Portland the concert experience it so deserves.” Added Chad Queirolo, Regional Vice President for AEG Presents Pacific Northwest: “We’ve had an incredible 25+ year relationship promoting shows with Mike Quinn and Monqui, and look forward to many more years of putting on historical shows together.”
