We have only 5 years left to deliver on the Global Biodiversity Framework’s goal of halting and reversing nature loss by 2030.   The scale and stakes of this challenge are high, but spending time with dozens of conservation leaders across the World Wildlife Fund network last week left me feeling confident that we can make progress—particularly during upcoming meetings taking place at COP 16 in Cali, Colombia.   The tools and talent to deliver lasting conservation impact are within reach. As Daudi Sumba, WWF International's Chief Conservation Officer, said: It’s time for collective action and science-based interventions at scale.   Thank you to WWF-Adria for hosting us in Croatia and bringing us all together for these important conversations.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Arctic Community Wildlife Grants, a new #funding opportunity that will focus on supporting projects in #Alaska to conserve and sustain incredible wildlife and ways of life. A groundbreaking assessment in Frontiers in Conservation Science provides the first global analysis of Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) and their role in achieving the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework Target 3. Did you know that nearly one third of the food produced on Earth gets traded internationally rather than consumed locally? The global food system is one of the biggest drivers of climate change and biodiversity loss, so minimum sustainability standards for internationally traded food would go a long way toward slashing greenhouse gas emissions and saving ecosystems. Last week WWF launched Codex Planetarius to do just that.
