True digital transformation isn't about throwing technology at a problem—it's about "ruthless prioritization" aligned with growth, says Claude Wade, AIG's EVP, Chief Digital Officer and Global Head of Business Operations and Claims. Wade connected with fellow World 50 members to discuss AIG's tech journey (including tackling one of its most critical barriers: reducing quote submissions from weeks to minutes through focused AI implementation) and how transformation success comes from starting small, understanding core processes, and letting results build organic momentum. What an incredible full-circle moment, Natasha Gurevich! Returning as a Next Leader faculty member—to share your executive experiences with and gain fresh perspectives from the next generation of enterprise leaders—demonstrates that the best teachers are lifelong learners. Thank you for paying it forward!
Six years ago, my then boss Craig Cuffie, in spite of my foolish resistance, sent me to the World 50's Next Leader program that prepares leaders to the C-Suite. I left the program in awe; the wisdom of faculty inspired my leadership journey. Earlier this month I had the honor of serving as a faculty member myself. And yet I was still a student. We discussed how to shift the mindset from the functional to an enterprise leader; how "doing more with less" is a fictional concept; the challenges of marrying our prior experiences with the companies' cultures while delivering results and I was so impressed with the engagement and the depth of ideas coming from the attendees. We challenged each other's assumptions, generated new approaches and exchanged pointed questions. This is what I love about our business community: we keep the "knowledge door" open for each other. It was not hierarchical; it was filled with the spirit of genuine learning. Liam Abramson and Jessica Thrasher - you're the world class facilitators; thank you for bringing the best thinking and conversations out of us. Special thanks to my fellow faculty pictured below: Liam Abramson, William Ruh; Shiraz Ladiwala; Jessica Thrasher; Laura L. Schwinn; Will Papa; Eva Sage-Gavin and Amy Parsons. Massive congratulations to Yvonne Wagner and Katie Waggamon and the second-to-none World 50 team for yet another cohort of amazing leaders - this wouldn't be possible without you! Till we see each other again! #leadership #learning #World50

Maintaining a clear strategic vision is critical for organizational direction and stability during a CEO transition. Just ask Jamie Iannone, CEO of eBay: When he took the helm in April 2020, he hit the ground running with an eight-page strategic vision for the board. That vision held up three years later because it focused on modernizing technology infrastructure to empower customers and small-business owners who transact on the platform. At a recent Next Generation Leadership meeting, Iannoe shared that at any one time, eBay hosts 2 billion live auctions for 132 million customers across 190 countries. Hence, the company uses AI in search, risk modeling, advertising, and authenticating reused and luxury items. When it comes to AI priorities, Iannone is clear: First, create a differentiated customer experience; then, augment work to make people more successful. #ceoinsights #CEOmentality #leadership #strategy #vision #ai #artificialintelligence #world50

Next Generation Leadership graduate Harry Sommer—who became the CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. last year—recently joined participants to share how he set priorities in his first year on the job. The best advice he received came from a former CEO, who said: “In my entire career, I’ve only made five decisions that matter.” That CEO could name and explain the big strategic moves that delivered outsized returns. To stay the course, Sommer carries around a one-pager that lists the seven or eight priorities that have the best chances of driving the business forward—initiatives he presented to the board. The biggest decision in his first year? Balancing product experience and cost structure. We're excited to continue the conversation at our October meeting, which kicked off today in Alexandria, VA. In this 20-minute listen, Mark Weinberger, former CEO of EY, discusses purpose, achieving work-life balance, and prioritizing what's truly important: "It's not one decision that determines whether you are a family man or a businessman. It's all those little decisions that add up that matter." https://lnkd.in/esBTqnNb
Mark Weinberger: "You can't be successful at work if you don't win outside of work."

In celebration of this year's I&D Impact Awards, we're continuing to spotlight the incredible DEI leaders who donate their time and expertise to serve on the judge's panel. Melvyn Smith Jr., MBA, Genworth’s director of DEI and a returning judge from last year, expressed how becoming involved in the I&D Impact Awards helps to elevate best practices in D&I and shape the narrative around effective inclusion strategies. "By evaluating and selecting companies with impactful D&I programs, I can play a role in shaping the future of workplace inclusion, helping to raise the standard for what meaningful D&I work looks like across industries," he said. We’re kicking off the fall 2024 Next Leader season by spotlighting some of the exceptional C-suite faculty who will guide, mentor, and teach incoming participants. One of those executives is John Jenkins, EVP & General Counsel at TE Connectivity. "My most rewarding career moments came from calculated risk-taking, the mentors in my corner, and connections with the next generation of corporate leaders," said John. "Now, I can pay my experience forward as a World 50 Next Leader faculty member.” As leadership — and the responsibilities that come with it — continues to evolve, having real-time access to the learnings and experiences of successful C-suite leaders is a game changer. “The role of general counsel has shifted significantly over the past twenty years, evolving from behind-the-scenes legal counsel to a strategic business partner. Next Leader provides the enterprise leadership skills needed to make that transition,” he added. In addition to serving as faculty, John has continued to send his own direct reports through the program. “After participating in Next Leader, my colleagues are energized by the networking opportunities, and the new strategies and perspectives they gain." A few spots remain for the November 11-14 program in Ascot, U.K. To learn more about program benefits and apply, visit: https://okt.to/sOL0R2 #world50 #talentdevelopment
