About us

The World Roma Federation is in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations ECOSOC and is also accredited by UNESCO, UNICEF. With this status our organization is mandated to establish communications, network and lobby ALL member states of the United Nations and their government. a designated representative, under this mandate may network and lobby with the Permanent missions to the UN as well as the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. This status is also highly respected by many municipal governments and creates many friendships and partnerships under the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goals #16 & 17. The World Roma Federation is accredited by the European Parliament and is a registered interest group with registered lobbyists. Our leadership is responsible for all UN and EU Relations and Communications according to Article 11 of The Treaty of Lisbon. The World Roma Federation exists to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. We advocate for the freedom, dignity and well-being of the Roma people and all Europeans. We acknowledge and respect their right to self-determination. Our aim is to disperse power, to foster diversity and to nurture creativity. It is our belief that the role of the EU is to enable all citizens to attain these ideals, to contribute fully to their communities and to take part in the decisions which affect their quality of life and autonomy.
