I just love living in Sevilla, Spain! Everything about this place is so beautiful, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my classes at Universidad Pablo de Olavide. My engaging professors and their diverse backgrounds have truly enriched my academic experience here. I've been fortunate enough to explore beyond Sevilla, visiting the Andalucian cities of Málaga, El Pedroso, and Ronda. We also ventured to Barcelona where we saw the breathtaking Sagrada Familia. With WorldStrides, I had the chance to cross over to Gibraltar and experience its unique blend of British and Mediterranean cultures. The view of The Rock of Gibraltar and the beautiful blue water surrounding it was amazing. My visit to London absolutely surpassed my expectations. I loved constantly being surrounded by stunning architecture, and I could not believe the museums were free! The Londoners were so approachable and friendly, making our trip even more special. Most importantly, I'm grateful for the incredible friendships I've formed and the memories we're creating together. So far, my time in Spain has taught me the value of "Spanish time," eliminating the constant hurry that often plagues our lives. It has broadened my perspective and refined my priorities, reminding me that the world is so much bigger than myself and reinforcing my desire to contribute to positive change in my community and beyond. I can't wait to see what the rest of the semester holds!

Speaking of #studyabroadday , last night’s Black and Abroad panel was a huge success! WorldStrides was able to co-collaborate for Monday’s event with The University of Alabama National PanHellenic Council (NPHC) and the Black Student Union, and we had a great turnout. A massive thank you to Taylor Woods , VP of UA’s NPHC, who was fantastic at being a liaison between me and NPHC—and all through email! I was in the most capable hands. Excellent work. Our 5 student panelists were from freshmen to seniors, some were members of sororities/fraternities, others from various student organizations, and everything in between. I was honored to MC the panel and the students gave their peers great insight, advice, and perspective on being black and abroad in their respective countries traveled. One of the top pieces of advice: Do your research, but stay open! We talked about safety abroad, access to things like hair care or food, and why differences should not stop you from seeing the world! A huge shoutout to the amazing panelists—I learned so much hearing about your experiences: Aria Lawrence Salome Montague Justin Bryant Tyler Little Briana Lorissaint And a big thank you to UA Education Abroad’s Ishmael Williams who presented along with me and Carolina Robinson, PhD for supporting me on organizing this event, attending, and encouraging the students to come to us to learn more, letting them know we are here to help them succeed in this!
