🧠Neurological conditions are a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, yet many countries face a critical shortage of neurologists. In Togo, a small country in West Africa, there are only three #neurology departments serving the entire population. World Telehealth Initiative is bridging this gap by connecting specialists like Dr. Gee, a neurologist in California, with clinicians at El Elyon Hospital in Togo’s capital city. 🤝Through #telehealth, these collaborations are enhancing patient care and empowering #healthcare teams with vital expertise, bringing specialized neurology support to communities in need. 👩⚕️👨⚕️ #globalhealth

Telemedicine is Transforming Healthcare Delivery at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital. As the Onsite Program Coordinator for the collaboration between Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna, and the World Telehealth Initiative (WTI), I am proud of our progress in advancing healthcare delivery. One of our standout achievements has been the didactic sessions, where healthcare providers engage in knowledge sharing on the latest developments in medicine. These interactions, facilitated by the WTI, have notably enhanced patient care at our hospital. This highlights the immense potential of expanding telemedicine across more hospitals, ensuring broader access to quality healthcare. #Telemedicine #HealthcareInnovation #WTICollaboration #QualityCare #MedicalAdvancements #AccessToHealthcare #Kaduna

World Telehealth Initiative (WTI)'s lifesaving program in #Ukraine continues to provide vital support for providers and patients during the conflict. 🌍A soldier with a severe head injury needed urgent brain surgery, and doctors on the front lines worked to quickly stabilize his condition. He was transported to the #Neurosurgery Institute, but his condition remained critical. 👩⚕️👨⚕️ The neurosurgery team identified a procedure that could help him but had never performed it before. Through WTI, they connected with Dr. Ivar Mendez, a renowned neurosurgery expert in Canada, who guided them through the surgery step-by-step via #telehealth. 🤝Thanks to his expertise, the surgery was a success, and the Ukrainian doctors gained confidence to use this technique on other patients.

"Today I had a diagnosis dilemma with extensive skin lesions in a 3-year-old. I reached out to Dr. Monisha Madhumita... She provided us with possible diagnoses and differentials, investigations to be carried out and treatment. Our experience with the supporting physicians in the World Telehealth Initiative network has been wonderful...We have had more neonatal sessions, which have helped with patient diagnosis and management." 👩🏿⚕️🌐 Dr. Ramatu Aliya-zubair, a dedicated pediatrician at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Nigeria, delivers vital care for children in her community. 🏥Through World Telehealth Initiative, Nigerian clinicians collaborate with our global network of pediatric and women's health sub-specialists, improving healthcare access for families across Nigeria. 🤝 #GlobalHealth #Telemedicine #HealthcareHeroes

🌍 In Kenya, where 80% of the population lives in rural areas, accessing specialized healthcare often means traveling long distances. We’re bridging this gap by bringing medical specialists directly to rural communities. At St. Clare's Kaplong Mission Hospital, our global network of medical experts provide bedside consults and educational sessions via telehealth. The program enhances local clinicians' skills in critical areas like neonatal care and emergency medicine.👩⚕️By reducing the need for patient referrals to distant hospitals, we’re making quality healthcare more accessible. #DigitalHealth #HealthcareAccess #GlobalHealth

Last week, a landmark event took place for Ukrainian eHealth. eHealth in Ukraine has been under construction since 2017. Unfortunately, russian aggression slowed down the pace of development of eHealth, but did not stop it. During the war, Ukrainian eHealth showed stability and reliability. We can preliminarily claim that our eHealth can become a model for many countries in many ways. Ukrainian eHealth is built on a modern technological stack. The system has a unitary architecture with a central database for the entire country, which avoids many of the interoperability problems that exist in many developed countries. Telemedicine solutions were presented separately at the summit. Our friends and partners support our country during the war against the russian aggressor. Many thanks to Sharon Allen at World Telehealth Initiative, Sharon Allen and her team were among the first to bring us humanitarian telemedicine Teladoc Health systems during the war. This initiative was also made possible thanks to our friend and partner Ed Percy. Sharon's initiative is very necessary and useful for the medical system of Ukraine. In addition to consulting medical care, our medical workers have the opportunity to learn and share experiences during wartime. Thank you Sharon. #ehealth #telehealth #telemedicine #teladochealth
