Fertility preservation and family building after cancer is usually focused on females but Worth the Wait is committed to offering financial support to whoever needs it. We're grateful that Worth the Wait grant recipient, Brad, shared his unique experience with sperm banking after testicular cancer. And a special thank you to our amazing partner Reproductive Diagnostics, Inc. for supporting this grant.

Fertility & Adoption Grants for Cancer Survivors
About us
We provide young adult cancer survivors financial assistance to pursue parenthood by preserving fertility before cancer treatment or building a family after through adoption, fertility treatments or surrogacy in survivorship. Young adult cancer patients often have just a few days to decide if they want to preserve their fertility and deal with the associated finances. Moreover, years later when they want to become parents, they often face the costly reality of infertility treatments, adoption or even surrogacy. Most private insurances/employers do not cover fertility preservation and treatment or adoption, even for cancer survivors. Worth the Wait, a 501 (c) (3), is easing the burden by providing financial support for egg /embryo freezing, sperm banking, artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, gestational surrogacy and adoption for cancer survivors no matter where they are in their journey.

What happens when young cancer patients don't have the option to preserve their fertility before cancer treatment? We often focus on those who get the chance. But it’s important to share perspectives of all young adult cancer survivors. Jennifer Swanton, a longtime blood cancer survivor and advocate, courageously shared her story with us. Worth the Wait is committed to offering fertility preservation and family building grants for adolescent and young cancer survivors regardless of gender identity, sexuality, race or ethnicity. "A Worth the Wait grant has given us the resources to pursue fertility preservation before chemotherapy, and this has given me back some feeling of agency over my body and what happens to it. It’s just one less thing that cancer may take away." #inclusion #cancerdoesntdescriminate

Parenthood after cancer is Worth the Wait. Just ask this little girl's mom and dad. They received a grant last year to help them start a family through adoption after mom's cancer diagnosis. #worththewait

A message from Mike Scherer, CFP® this Father's Day weekend. "I had to wait to become a father. There were times when I thought it wouldn’t happen. There were times when I wanted to quit trying. There were times when it all felt so hopeless and I felt like fatherhood wasn’t for me. Going through fertility treatments with Megan didn’t help the feelings of isolation. I was often times ignored throughout the appointments, and the focus was largely on Megan, yet I knew I was the problem due to my cancer history. Infertility affects men. Fertility preservation is important for men too. When we set up Worth the Wait, we vowed to include men. The fertility conversation has a habit of leaving us out. I experienced this firsthand."
