It's exciting to see that our work made it all the way to Japan! The t-shirts we made for ACT UP NY - AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power with the "Silence=Death" message is available via the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection in Japan now. Cool! Formed in March of 1987 by individuals with no leaders or committee, ACT UP (AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power) protested against the Regan administration’s delayed response to the AIDS crisis. In 1989, Keith Haring made a poster Ignorance = Fear Silence = Death inspired by the concept of the three wise monkeys. Haring was also involved with the movement as a member. ACT UP continues to fight to end the stigma, discrimination and poverty surrounding HIV/AIDS inflicted institutionally on marginalized people. https://lnkd.in/eH_CDfYb
