About us

The Wright City R-II School District is located in a growing area about 45 miles west of St. Louis along Hwy 70. The district is made up of 92 square miles in Warren and Lincoln counties and includes mailing addresses in Foristell, Marthasville, Troy, and Wright City. The district serves students in five buildings: Wright City Early Childhood Center (Pre-Kindergarten); Wright City East Elementary (K-1); Wright City West Elementary (2-5); Wright City Middle School (6-8); and Wright City High School (9-12). The district educates approximately 1788 students.

In her own words, Dr. Broadway-Yates expresses her enthusiasm for joining the Wright City R-II family: "I am so excited to join the Wright City family, and to serve and support the students, staff, and community. I am very passionate about ensuring all students are able to access the very best education, and are given every opportunity to achieve and succeed. I look forward to supporting the great work of the District, and to becoming a Wildcat!"   • The Wright City R-II School District is pleased to announce Ryan Heyel as the Middle School Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 School Year. 🌟 With a background spanning six years in education and continued service in the United States Army, Mr. Heyel brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our school community. Now, entering his sixth year in education, Mr. Heyel holds the role of Head Band Instructor for grades 6-12, Department Head, and Middle School Assistant Principal. He has also coached cross country and track & field. Alongside his educational pursuits, Mr. Heyel serves as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Army. Mr. Heyel holds a Bachelor of Science in K-12 Music Education from Hannibal LaGrange University, a Master's Degree in Principalship, and a Specialist in Education Degree (Ed.S) in Superintendency from Northwest Missouri State University. The Wright City R-II School District is confident in Ryan Heyel’s ability to positively impact our school community and look forward to his contributions to our students' success. #wildcatstrong

  • 🔵Assistant Superintendent, Doug Smith, Announces Retirement🔵 After 29 years of dedicated service in education, Doug Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, will embark on a well-deserved journey into retirement at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Mr. Smith has been an influential figure in education and coaching since 1995, guiding individuals across districts to foster dedication to student success in academics and athletics. Dedicated to teaching English throughout his early career in education across a few other districts, Mr. Smith transitioned to administration in 2010 upon joining our district as High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. Later, he served as the Principal of Wright City Middle School, overseeing its transformation from the lowest to the highest performing in the district. For the past six years, he has held the position of Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, demonstrating continued commitment to academic excellence and educational leadership.   • The Wright City R-II School District celebrates reaching a significant milestone in academic achievement! The 2023 Annual Performance Report shows that the district achieved our highest performance year in achievement since 2014. As a district, we are ranked 132 out of 553 districts in Missouri, placing us in the top 24%. In addition to our statewide recognition, within the EMO Conference, we have advanced by one spot, securing the 2nd position overall APR rankings. Furthermore, the area comparison presented at the January board meeting reveals notable improvement, as we moved from the 6th to the 4th place between 2022 and 2023. This is evidence of the dedication and hardwork of our educators and students alike. #wildcatstrong
