As we approach the year's end, we invite you to make a significant impact on the lives of 3,600 seniors in our community. Every day, WSFSSH's 450 staff members support seniors in our buildings and Older Adult Centers. Many see our staff as their only "family" providing care. Despite the vital role our staff plays, WSFSSH and our peer providers rely on a government contracting system that doesn't recognize human service workers with fair wages or career development. A capable workforce is crucial to our mission, and we're committed to advocacy for wage equity, while simultaneously working on more immediate solutions. For that reason, we are pleased to share that an anonymous donor has generously offered a $100,000 matching gift in 2023 & 2024, doubling every charitable dollar contributed. These funds will help us create a STAFF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ENDOWMENT that will be used to send our promising mid-career staff to high impact, leadership development training to foster their professional growth, peer networks, and longevity within WSFSSH. All gifts made in 2023 will be matched in 2023. If you miss 2023, your gift will be matched in 2024. Your support ensures a lasting impact on WSFSSH staff and those we serve. Thank you for your generosity. https://lnkd.in/dinaWWiN

Yesterday was #GivingTuesday. Today there are nearly 90,000 people staying in a New York City homeless shelter, and an estimated 10-15 % of them are older adults. With chronic health conditions and in need of growing support as they age, these seniors are dependent on a shelter system that was not designed for them. For nearly 50 years, WSFSSH has provided affordable, service-enriched housing to meet the unique needs of low-income and homeless older adults. https://lnkd.in/e6UTQKDx If you agree that homeless seniors deserve better, please give here: https://bit.ly/WSFSSHGT23

Today is #GivingTuesday. The number of homeless adults age 50 and older in New York City is projected to grow to more than 25,000 individuals in the next seven years. To meet this growing need, WSFSSH provides housing and on-site supportive services to over 2,500 vulnerable older adults in 30 buildings throughout Manhattan and the Bronx, with more on the way. If you believe that all older adults deserve a home and a caring community, please give: https://bit.ly/WSFSSHGT23 https://lnkd.in/d7xqmcmj

Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday. Last week over 2,500 older, low-income, and formerly homeless adults celebrated the bounty of Thanksgiving from safe, permanent homes in WSFSSH buildings in Manhattan and the Bronx. But for the more than 2,000 homeless seniors age 65 and older in the New York City shelter system, this security and support remains out of reach. If you are passionate about ensuring that all older New Yorkers have a roof over their head, please give here: https://bit.ly/WSFSSHGT23 https://lnkd.in/et3Te4Jp

We are thrilled to share the news that last week, WSFSSH marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for our newest senior supportive housing project, Fischer Senior Apartments, in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx. Fischer Senior Apartments will help ensure that low-income seniors have access to a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. The project will create 105 new homes, including 54 units for formerly homeless older adults, and over 4,000 sq. ft. of amenity space for the provision of a broad slate of supportive services. We want to extend heartfelt gratitude to the following sponsors who have played a pivotal role in bringing Fischer Senior Apartments to life: Hon. Vanessa L. Gibson, MPA (She, Her, Hers, Ella), Althea Stevens, NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development, NYS Office of Temporary & Disability Assistance, NYC Human Resources Administration, New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), Capital One, National Equity Fund, Inc., Deutsche Bank and Trinity Church Wall Street. Your support for community development and our work is deeply appreciated. Let's continue to work hand in hand, ensuring that seniors have a place to call home and the support they need to thrive. https://bit.ly/FischerGB
