Some very simple design changes to hardware design can significantly enhance developer experience. The Particle Photon 2 from Particle, shown on the left, demonstrates this through its implementation of clear pin labeling directly on the board, eliminating the need for constant datasheet consultation. In contrast, the Raspberry Pi Pico from Raspberry Pi Foundation, requires referencing the documentation for pin identification. It is just a small change but saves me a lot of time as I keep using these on an everyday basis.

Imagine if your equipment could tell you when something is wrong before it actually breaks down — saving time, reducing costs, and preventing unnecessary part replacements. That’s the power of predictive maintenance, and Thomas Vikström's project shows you how to harness it with real-time anomaly detection using the Particle Photon 2 and Edge Impulse ML models.

Tomorrow, Particle is hosting our free virtual conference, Spectra — and the theme this year is "Intelligence for anything, anywhere". So what will we be talking about? It's 2024, so clearly we'll be talking about Generative AI, LLMs, and humanoid robotics! Well, no. I mean, maybe a little. But mostly we're going to skirt past the hype and talk about real-world intelligence, where machines can make better decisions by applying: - More compute - More connectivity - More data - More sensors - Models and code We've got five (!!!) product announcements to share during the keynote (one for each of the above bullet points), and while I'm excited to share some of what we've been working on, I'm even more excited about our guest speakers from places like Edge Impulse, Qualcomm, Useful Sensors Inc., Hackster.io, Harvard University, and tinyML Foundation. (And Rick Bullotta, for whom I can't cite an employer but who's got his fingers in everything). Come join us tomorrow and see/hear what we've been up to! https://lnkd.in/eehJTkyy
