  • Natural gas is a vital resource – keeping homes warm, powering industries and helping us to drive toward a carbon free energy future. But none of this is possible without the hard work, expertise and commitment of the teams behind it. This Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day, we’re celebrating the incredible people who keep this essential gas flowing through our communities every day. Our crews work around the clock, through all conditions to ensure that 39,000 miles of natural gas pipeline are delivering safe, reliable gas to more than 2.2 million customers. Today and every day, thank you to our #XEProud natural gas workers!

  • Our nuclear plants in Minnesota have powered homes and businesses for decades and now, they’re delivering even more value. New this year, Minnesota customers will see a total of $318 million returned to them — more than half of it coming from a first-of-its-kind nuclear tax credit. Pending approval from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, the average residential customer will receive $81, applied as a rebate on bills through March 2026. Eldora had an ambitious goal to use 100% renewable energy, to minimize environmental impact and to build a more inclusive and sustainable snow sport community. Through partnership, collaboration, and shared clean energy goals, we were able to help them achieve their missions.

  • We’re committed to investing in the future generation of innovators and leaders. In honor of National Engineers Week, our employee-led resource group, Xcel Energy Women in Nuclear, hosted their 13th annual Nuclear Science and Technology Day for the Girl Scouts of River Valley, sharing their love of science, technology, engineering and math through hands on activities. • We are celebrating 75 years of powering Red Wing. What started as a coal-fired power plant in the 1940s has evolved into burning refuse-derived fuel (RDF) - a process that turns sorted waste into electricity. Since 1986, waste from Ramsey, Washington, and Goodhue Counties gets sorted and repurposed into energy, keeping our community sustainable. This approach reduces landfill waste, supports local recycling efforts, and keeps energy flowing. Throughout all these years of change, we take pride in continuing to serve the community.

This Black History Month, we’re celebrating our heritage, embracing progress and uniting to spark change. More than 230 employees came together to honor the month, hosted by our dedicated employee resource group, Black Employees at Xcel Energy (BLAX). We are deeply grateful to Sheletta Brundidge for sharing her humor, experiences and wisdom with us as we work to “Move Forward Together”. BLAX works tirelessly to advocate for equality, positive change and unity, both within our company and throughout the communities we serve. Their hard work and passion were reflected in the laughter and learning shared at this event, and in the impact they make year-round.

We don’t just power communities—we partner with them. By listening and collaborating, we’re creating lasting change with Sabathani Community Center. From cutting energy costs in half with a new geothermal system to launching an Environmental Sustainability Academy that builds careers, our partnership is making a lasting difference. The aging boilers at Sabathani, named Thelma and Louise, incur approximately $28,000 in energy expenses each month. Through the Resilient Minneapolis initiative, we are collaborating with Sabathani to install rooftop solar panels and a large energy storage battery aimed at lowering these costs. Together, we’re building a sustainable future.

  • We're #XEProud to drive positive change in our communities! With the latest Kwik Charge location now live in Chippewa Falls, our partnership with Kwik Trip, Inc. is ensuring that fast, reliable charging stations are accessible across the areas we serve.

Together, we can provide accessible electric vehicle charging and boost our state’s economy. It was a great day to gather with Kwik Trip, Inc., Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Public Service Commission of Wisconsin Commissioner Kristy Nieto and many others to celebrate the latest Kwik Charge location in Chippewa Falls. From Ashland to West Salem, Menomonie and now Chippewa Falls, there are Kwik Charge locations along major highways that not only provide EV drivers an option, but first-in-class customer service and the amenities (for me it's the glazers🍩and fried chicken🍗) we have come to expect. Thank you to Kwik Trip, our communities, elected officials and #XEProud team for making this project possible.

For nearly 50 years, the Sherburne County Generating Plant (Sherco) in Becker, Minnesota, has helped power the Upper Midwest. Now, the Sherco site is key to powering our region's growing demand for electricity. As we continue to close coal units, we are committed to leveraging the expertise and skill sets of our employees to transition them into new roles. Sherco plant director Michelle Neal is ensuring a smooth transition for employees and helping them find positivity in change.
