Xpat, Inc. is a community and lifestyle platform that connects the global Black community who work, study, and live abroad. Our mission is to enhance the living abroad experience and overall wellbeing of our community through knowledge sharing, community building, and amplification of Black voices. With representation from over 160 countries & territories across the globe, the Xpat community includes a vast network of current expats, aspiring expats, repats, nomads and partners. You can join the thriving Xpat community by downloading The Xpat App on the Apple App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android). Our platform includes: * Xpat Chats a live chat series featuring resources, advice, and insights into the Black experience abroad (launched May 2020) * The Xpat App which connects the Xpat community through a global directory and provides knowledge, opportunities, and resources for life abroad (launched Dec 2020) * The Black Expat Awards a platform created to amplify the representation of people of the African diaspora living abroad and the impact of their contributions

    Countries in Africa and the Caribbean are reimagining luxury with wine. At 25, Ngozi Elobuike decided to bring the renaissance to Ireland with her unique business venture. “In the Californian wine region of Lodi, where I grew up, wine and its appreciation was just a part of everyday life. In 2021, I quite literally won the lottery to move to Ireland for a year. I loved everything about this country — the pace of life, the burgeoning food scene and the people. The only thing missing was black wine culture and I felt like it was my job to bring it here. "Nearly five years ago, I’d just turned 21 and I was working as a kitchen porter at a wine bar in London while I was pursuing my first master’s degree. Here, I got familiar with wine and the joy that goes into making it. Even after I moved back home, I wanted more adventure, so I applied for an Instagram competition to win a free year to live in Ireland, and to my absolute delight, I won. "When I moved to Dublin, I decided to study a second master’s at UCD in Migration and Decolonial Studies. I started working at a wine bar in the city, where I realised that there was a huge gap in the diversity market here and I felt like all my experience with wine was a great reason to try and change that."
