Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸✨! As I immersed myself in the wonders of virtual reality - through my VR helmet, I envisioned the courage & determination of those who fought for independence, for a united Republic where freedoms & opportunities reign supreme. As an immigrant, I have experienced firsthand the incredible opportunities this nation provides. The United States is a land where dreams are nurtured & aspirations can become a reality, not a 'digital virtually'. This country’s strength lies in its diversity & it’s this beautiful melting pot of ideas that has fueled our progress with a focus to improve our lives. Today - more than ever, it is crucial for us to come together & unite. The divisions we face can only be overcome through understanding, compassion & a shared commitment to the values that define us. Greed by an intense craving for possessions, status & control often leads to prioritize personal gain over the well-being of others. We must remember that our strength is amplified when "we stand together", working towards a common mission of liberty & justice for all. On this Independence Day, let's celebrate not just our freedoms but also the unity & resilience of all countries. Let's honor those who have fought for our rights & continue to strive for a better healthier World! Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🗽#4thOfJuly #IndependenceDay #UnitedWeStand #Freedoms #Opportunities #ImmigrantJourney

George Abbey made significant contributions to the advancement of “Global Space Partnerships” throughout his tenure at NASA (late 1980s to the 2000s) fostering the growth & success of international collaborations in space exploration endeavors – notably exemplified by the long duration International Space Station #ISS program [European Space Agency - ESA, JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, Roscosmos, Canada Space Agency]. Under his leadership, the strategic vision, commitment to excellence & the careful selection of skilled professionals & astronauts was “instrumental” in laying the foundation for the successful construction & ongoing operation of the ISS, marking a pivotal moment in NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's history. 🚀 Our thoughts go out to his family & friends. His absent will be felt.
STATEMENT FROM THE ABBEY FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF GEORGE W. S. ABBEY Our devoted father, mentor, guidepost, and hero, George W. S. Abbey, passed away last night after an illness. He was 91. He has been called the father of modern spaceflight, but we called him Dad, Grampa, and Uncle George. He was a quiet man, brilliant, humble, and very private. The world will be so much emptier without him. He had hundreds of friends and associates from all over the world who will miss him. His long life was notable for accomplishments as a pilot, engineer, manager, educator, and father. Born in Seattle in 1932, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1954, then served in the Air Force, where he became a helicopter pilot and engineer. His career in spaceflight began with the Dyna-Soar program in 1959, but truly blossomed with his assignment to NASA in Houston in late 1964. He would go on to make major contributions to the Apollo program before moving into leadership at the Johnson Space Center. There, beginning in 1976, he served as director of flight operations, leading the selection of America’s first Shuttle astronauts -- and several subsequent classes -- through the triumphant first flights in the program as well as the tragic Challenger accident. In 1987 he transferred to NASA Headquarters in Washington D.C., where he served in key roles in human spaceflight, also working on The Synthesis Group, charting future paths for America’s space programs, and on the National Space Council. He returned to Johnson Space Center in 1994, first as deputy director, then director, leading the development and launch of the International Space Station. Following his retirement from NASA in 2003, he became Space Fellow at the James A. Baker Institute at Rice University while assisting with the development of charter schools and other educational institutions. He was a Fellow of Swansea University in Wales, his mother's home town. He brought Texas Longhorns back to Johnson's Space Center. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he was a man of deep faith, fond of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, classic cars, Celtic music attending the annual festival in Brittany, fine wines, and friendships. He is survived by his five children, his eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and by so many whose space careers he launched and nurtured.

The role of cellular networks in advancing communication from the Moon to Mars - and crucially - back to Earth! 🚀 🌎
Chief Executive Officer | Former NASA Chief | Innovator in Computer Technologies | Lecturer | Board Advisor "Fostering Advancement through Space Exploration Expertise"
On February 15th SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket embarked on a historic mission propelling the Nova-C Moon lander, nicknamed 'Odi' by Intuitive Machines, towards the lunar surface. As a crucial component for future lunar missions, advanced & reliable communication infrastructure is as indispensable as food, shelter or life support. Nokia Bell Labs, contracted by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, achieved a remarkable milestone by deploying with IM-1 the first fully integrated LTE cell network to the moon's surface using reusable components, showcasing Nokia's unparalleled expertise in pushing the boundaries of communication tech beyond Earth. This groundbreaking achievement not only signifies a leap forward in 'advance communication' but also paves the way for the implementation of the "Internet of Things" [#iot] from the lunar landscape, opening doors for new partnerships & collaborations in the face of the high costs associated with space exploration. While the space exploration market continues to evolve with the entry of new commercial players, there remains a - significant room for disruption & innovation. Beyond its immediate implications for lunar missions, the advancements in 'communication tests' conducted as part of this mission hold promises for benefiting terrestrial enterprise applications. As a stepping stone towards proving the technology at a more practical level, this mission not only propels us closer to unlocking new mysteries of the #deepspace but also highlights the potential for a symbiotic growth between Earth & space-based technologies. Congratulations to everyone undertaking to attempt this mission!

What is affecting company's tangible results? Some reasons... a) Lack of mission's clarity: employees may not fully know the mission & how their individual roles contribute to the mission of the company. b) Misalignment of values: employees may have personal values that conflict with the company's mission or culture, as they grow in their positions. c) Communication breakdown: poor communication from top-to-bottom can result in misinformation, hindering (b) the alignment efforts by the company. d) Inconsistent leadership: when inconsistent leadership behaviors or actions "contradict the company's stated mission" this affects (a), (b) & (c). When leaders fail to embody the organization's values in actions, employees will become disillusioned & more likely to disassociate. This is not good for the company's overall performance. Here is an insightful article about this subject: "NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration vows to battle 'organizational silence' as problems arise amid Artemis delays" https://lnkd.in/efhVN4ai
