Last October, the YachtAid Global team was in Central America after the Pacific coast of Mexico was struck by FOUR tropical cyclones. Hurricane Norma was the worst of the four as it made landfall in Baja California Sur. YachtAid Global responded delivering humanitarian aid across impacted communities including clean water access systems and homes’ re-building supplies as part of our ongoing support for the people of Mexico. After a busy September, YachtAid Global is at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show talking with clients about how the yachting community can continue to make impactful positive change to the coastal communities that share with us their land, sea and spirit. If you’d like to learn more and talk with our team at the show, please don’t hesitate to contact us. #yachtaidglobal #humanitarian #altruism #yachtlife #fortlauderdale #flibs #flibs2024 #boatshow #florida #community #family #mexico #cleanwater #disasterrelief #conservation #education #superyacht #superyachtcrew #yachtcrew #donate #participate #responsibilty #together

The prediction of an “above-normal 24 Atlantic hurricane season” was evident with Hurricane Beryl’s landfall on the island of Carriacou on July 1st, making it the earliest-forming Category 5 hurricane on record. Since then, the mid-season forecasts continued to warn of potential devastation during the peak hurricane season. Even with this, no one anticipated what we are seeing with with Hurricane Milton and its escalation, as not one single weather model predicted the storm would strengthen this quickly. Our thoughts are with the people of Florida bracing for this historic storm as well as the people still reeling from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. #family #community #hurricane #staysafe #florida #weather #climatechange #together #love #change #united #yacht #yachtlife #superyacht #superyachtcrew #hurricanemilton #yachtaidglobal

YachtAid Global recently visited Rabi Island as part of Operation Viti and our commitment to improving clean water access to coastal communities worldwide. Taking time to meet with families around the island, YachtAid Global team members successfully distributed water filtration solutions to the population’s most vulnerable suffering from the effects of their contaminated water supply. By donating to YachtAid Global, you join our fight to improve the health and quality of the people in these remote communities. YachtAid Global frequently deploys to far away shores to work with coastal communities that share with us ( cruising superyachts that's you !!! ) their land, sea and spirit. Israel and Craig recently lead a group of volunteers deep into Central America as part of our #OperationJade . Israel wrote this beautiful piece as part of his situation report ..... it truly inspires all of us to do more for people and planet. Thank you Israel, Craig and the volunteer crew 🙏🙏 ""Today was simply unforgettable. It marked the end of our activities at the Elementary School, and although it was a holiday, we didn’t see any children, yet the place was full of life and memories. Upon arrival, Craig began recounting our past experiences at this school to the rest of the team and volunteers. The atmosphere was buzzing with activity. The furniture had been removed, protective covers were in place, and everything was being prepped to paint. We jumped in immediately, covering the remaining areas with tape and plastic to avoid any stains. Each of us took on a task with determination, painting the classroom and assisting others. Then, suddenly, music filled the air. It was as if magic had descended. A group of students surprised us with traditional regional music. Among the instruments, a female voice rose above, rich with emotion and precision. Her performance was captivating. Ronald approached me, visibly moved, and whispered, "This song is from Guanacaste, it always gives me chills. And this girl... she sings it incredibly well!" I couldn’t agree more; the song resonated deeply within us. As we worked, I watched as several elderly couples, unable to resist the beauty of the music, took their partners and began to dance with grace and tenderness. It was a moment of pure connection, where the music seemed to transcend time and transport us to something bigger. When the song ended, the elders, deeply moved, offered words of gratitude to the young musicians. It was at that moment, looking at those children, that I was filled with a certainty: there is hope. Through their talent and passion, the future shines brightly, carried by a new generation eager to learn, grow, and create. After we finished our tasks, the music teacher invited us to a special performance. The students gifted us with a heartwarming rendition of various musical pieces. The drums pulsed, the flutes danced in the air, the marimbas resonated, and each instrument seemed to come alive in the hands of these children. Seeing their smiles, their pride, and their joy as they played was, without a doubt, the greatest gift of the day. This last day in Guanacaste will remain etched in my heart not only for what we accomplished, but for what we felt. We walked away with more than just memories; we took with us inspiration, hope, and the profound impact of witnessing art in its purest form.""

This week, in 2019, Hurricane Dorian struck the Bahamas with winds peaking at over 180 mph. Regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country’s history, this catastrophic storm ravaged the Bahamas leaving in its wake over 70,000 people homeless. With the support of our donors and volunteering yacht crew, YachtAid Global was able to deliver over 600 tons of aid to the Bahamas along with disaster relief volunteers and medical professionals. When disasters strike these remote island communities, the logistic challenges of delivering aid and providing support can be extremely challenging, sometimes taking decades for the people of these islands to fully recover. The unique opportunity that we have at YachtAid Global to make an impact on the families recovering from these disasters is only possible thanks to the generosity of our donors and volunteers. As part of the recent corals conservation work, participating yacht crew, local marine biologists and YachtAid Global surveyed reefs around the island of Antigua in search of resilient coral colonies that survived one of the worst coral bleaching events on record. Corals that exhibit these survival traits are essential to the future of the species and the effectiveness of the nurseries. Over the series of dives, the team collected nearly 2000 fragments from 11 species of endangered coral for the York Island Nursery. Depending on the coral genotype, these fragments were closely examined and in some cases micro-fragmented to help speed up the growth rate. Such an innovative approach will ensure the new corals are ready to be planted back on the reefs in just a few years, instead of a decade or more. Initial findings from a recent Operation Swimway expedition in the Caribbean are providing important insights into the migratory behaviors of the studied shark species. The first data collected from silky sharks indicate a preliminary affinity for the waters surrounding Antigua, suggesting that this area serves as a key habitat for this species. The data collected from the tagged tiger sharks in contrast reveal a broader range of movement, reflecting the species’ adaptability and extensive migratory behavior. While some individuals’ travels ranged as far north as St. Maarten and south to Montserrat, most tagged tiger sharks migrated southwards, corroborating existing knowledge of regional shark migration patterns. The insights gained are instrumental in advancing regional conservation goals by providing a scientific basis for identifying and protecting key habitats and migratory corridors for these threatened species of sharks in the Caribbean. As part of Operation Viti, YachtAid Global and our coalition partners recently completed some vital upgrades to a Fijian community’s water supply. For generations, this community has relied on a single well for water which has seen a steady decline in levels and water quality causing various health issues for the island’s inhabitants. In addition to repairing the well’s wall, effective water filters were installed, repairs were made to the existing pipeline to the community and an entirely new pipeline was built to bring clean water to the island’s school. Standpipes were also installed in new areas where the community will soon be relocating residents as part of the storm prevention needed to adapt to climate change. To increase water flow to these clean water access depots, solar panels designed to power new water pumps for these pipelines were also installed by the YachtAid Global team. These necessary improvements to the lifestyle and health of the people of these remote Fijian islands would not be possible without the help of our coalition partners and the donations, participation and support of the yachting community. This project is aligned with and supports the Unified Nations Sustainable Development Goal #6 “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all” To learn more about YachtAid Global, Operation Viti and how you can help, click the link in our bio. #yachtaidglobal #cleanwater #cleanwateraccess #water #family #families #fiji #yachtlife #superyacht #superyachtcrew #yachtcrew #travel #sdg4 #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #southpacific #humanitarian #altruism #community
