At a recent YCSC open house, Senior Research Scientist Suzi Ruhl addressed some important policy topics related to behavioral health in a flash talk for interested collaborators. In these clips from her talk, she addresses Triple Bottom Line (i.e., environmental, health and economic) Justice and Z Codes (a mechanism for aligning health care with environmental risks/climate change). These are a focus of a course she teaches at the Yale School of Public Health on Climate Equity and Health Policy Methods.

No child should have to wake up worried about how they look, feel, or smell because they can't afford a bar of soap or tube of toothpaste. Children are significantly more likely not to go to school when there is a chance they will be teased about the smell or appearance of their clothes. Hygiene products deliver health, confidence, and dignity to those in need. This is why Claire's Corner Copia joined together with the Yale Child Study Center to create a Hygiene Closet for the families they serve. Launched in 2022, the “Someone Cares Closet” (SCC) is a collaboration between Claire's Corner Copia and the Yale Child Study Center to provide personal care and household cleaning products for children and families served by YCSC clinicians.
