As society progresses, I believe that institutions must follow suit. With climate change becoming a mounting concern, I am proud to have served as project leader for the Yale Sustainable Consulting Collective these past two years. During this time, I improved the partnership between Yale University and Bulldog Beds (bulldogbeds.co), a student-run agency offering mattress rental options. We launched two intiatives this past year: one providing free mattress topper rentals to over 175 limited-income students, and another enabling Yalies to recycle their unwanted mattress toppers at the end of the year. In the pilot year alone, we recovered over 300 mattress toppers, the equivalent of 6 dumpsters worth of product that would have gone to a landfill. As a soon-to-be-alum, I look forward to seeing Yale University and Bulldog Beds further their sustainability outlooks in years to come!
