One common misconception is that fertilizers deplete the soil, but is this true? 🤔   No! Fertilizers are actually key to restoring the soil by providing plants with the nutrients they need to thrive. 💡   Just like humans, plants need a balanced diet of essential #nutrients for healthy growth, including nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K).   Adding nutrients lost during harvest back into the soil keeps it fertile so it can produce healthy food that ends up at our dinner table. That’s why #fertilizers are crucial: they bridge the gap between what the soil provides and what plants need! More here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eFpnhFU2   #FertilizersExplained

To reach the ambition of climate neutrality by 2050, the EU needs to make sure that all available #decarbonization technologies can reach their full potential. That’s why we urge the President of the European Commission to address the immediate need to scale-up Industrial Carbon Management in Europe. “CCS is crucial for achieving climate neutrality and accelerating the green transition. While renewable hydrogen is our ultimate goal, low carbon hydrogen offers a swift, cost-effective solution to reduce emissions,” explains Hans-Olav Raen, CEO at Yara Clean Ammonia.    Read the open letter that we've signed together with other 50 leading industry and civil society organizations here 👉 https://lnkd.in/d2TzXVYt #MakrCCSHappen, #NoNetZeroWithoutCCS

This month, we proudly inaugurated Yara's new ammonia import terminal at our plant in Brunsbüttel, Germany - a milestone and an important step to drive Europe's #hydrogeneconomy. 🎉 The new terminal will allow to expand our current import capacity in Germany up to three million tons of low-emission #ammonia annually. 🏭 Strategically located on the North Sea and the Kiel Canal, Brunsbüttel aims to be a central hub to enable not only Germany's hydrogen strategy, but also Europe's. Listen to our colleagues share firsthand how this achievement is paving the way for a #NetZero future. ⬇️

It’s a common mistake to think that more fertilizer means more yield.   The key to maximizing yield and ensuring #EveryNutrientCounts while protecting our planet lies in the "4R Nutrient Stewardship framework". What do the "4Rs" stand for? 👇   ✔ Right source: Using the right type of fertilizer that matches the crop's needs and soil conditions ensures optimal #nutrient availability.   ✔ Right rate: Understanding the nutrient needs of a crop throughout its growth cycle is key to avoiding nutrient losses or deficiencies.   ✔ Right time: The best timing for applying fertilizer is based on the timing of crop uptake, the dynamics of the soil nutrient supply and the release rates of specific products.   ✔ Right place: It is essential to target nutrient application to the right place, or more specifically, to the zone in the soil that is most accessible to the plant.   Effective crop nutrition management is tailored to soil conditions, crop needs, and growth stages. More isn’t always better—balanced application is. 👩🌾 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eEMFTAne   #FertilizersExplained

Oats have been successfully harvested at Hay Farms as part of our partnership with PepsiCo EU! 🚜🇬🇧 This crop received our lower carbon footprint fertilizers, which were delivered in the spring and are part of the Yara Climate Choice #fertilizers range. As part of the partnership, which spans multiple countries including the UK, farmers producing for PepsiCo are equipped with Yara's best-in-class crop nutrition products and advice as well as precision farming digital tools. This will allow them to increase nutrient use efficiency (NUE), boost yields and reduce the carbon footprint of their crops. Together with PepsiCo, we are committed to #decarbonizing food production and creating a more sustainable food system in Europe. More about the partnership here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dBXj6CJ2

Join us in celebrating #WorldFoodDay! 🎉   Our bodies rely on vital nutrients from the #food we eat, and mineral nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorous (P) and potassium (K) are essential for our survival. But if food sustains us, what sustains food? 🤔   For optimal health, plants require a balanced diet of various mineral elements, as well as carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen from the #soil. However, each harvest depletes the soil of these crucial nutrients.   This is where #fertilizers come into play! Essential for restoring nutrient balance, fertilizers are key for plants to thrive, becoming vital sources of nutritious food for human health.   Fertilizers, whether applied to crops at small or large farms, contribute to sustainable food production, enhancing the health of soil, plants, and people worldwide. 🌱🌾🌍 Video from: International Fertilizer Association (IFA)

Yara Clean Ammonia is proud to be a sponsor of this year's European Hydrogen Week! 🎉   Yara Clean Ammonia (#YCA) is uniquely positioned to enable the #hydrogeneconomy, building on Yara’s leading experience within global #ammonia production (representing 7% of the current H2 production in Europe), logistics and trade. YCA works towards capturing growth opportunities in low-emission fuel for maritime #shipping and power, carbon-free food production through fertilizers made from renewable ammonia or via carbon capture and storage (#CSS) and industrial applications.   As the world’s largest ammonia distributor, YCA operates a global ammonia network with 15 ships and access to 18 ammonia terminals and multiple ammonia production and consumption sites across the world, through Yara International. This also positions YCA as a key player to provide ammonia as a long distance H2 carrier solution. 🛳   Don't miss out on the opportunity to know more about YCA’s work: Ms Vibeke Rasmussen, Senior Vice President at YCA, will speak at the panel on “Carbon pricing, an enabler of the clean transition” on November 19 at 10.00 CET! Happy #GlobalFertilizerDay! 🌱 Fertilizers are one of humanity's greatest inventions, thanks to the groundbreaking Haber-Bosch process developed in the early 20th century. This innovation saved billions from hunger by making #nitrogen from the air available to plants. Today, fertilizers feed half the world’s population, playing a critical role in #foodsecurity in Europe and beyond. Despite their importance, many misconceptions still exist. Join us over the next few weeks as we debunk common misconceptions and answer your questions about fertilizers! 💡 First up: why replenish soils with nutrients from fertilizers? 🤔 Swipe right to find out why and stay tuned for more insights into the role of fertilizers, which are a key part of a sustainable food system! #FertilizersExplained

And it’s a wrap! 🎬 The 4th Industrial Carbon Management Forum concluded today in Pau (🇫🇷). We extend our gratitude to the European Commission (DG ENER) and the Ministères Territoires Écologie Logement for the opportunity to share our insights on Carbon Capture and Storage (#CCS). It was truly inspiring to join forces with industry leaders from Air Liquide, Fluxys and Eni in a thought-provoking panel discussion. Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson emphasized that CCS is not just a key technology for achieving EU climate targets; it’s also crucial for maintaining the global competitiveness of EU industries. Throughout the forum, stakeholders highlighted several critical challenges: 1️⃣ Regulatory gaps hindering the advancement of CCS projects 2️⃣ The current low #CO2 price, which undermines project viability 3️⃣ The need for harmonized CO2 standards and comprehensive mapping of CO2 storage facilities At Yara, we firmly believe that CCS represents the most cost-effective solution for medium-term #decarbonization. However, to effectively support CCS initiatives, it’s essential that emitters develop a robust business case for decarbonized production. Michael Schlaug, VP Netherlands at Yara International, has shared his takeaways from the two-day event ⬇
