Code2College Software Engineering Intern - Yeti

Last week marked the end of another invaluable experience at YETI. I am truly grateful to have learned so much through both the part-time job during my senior year and this amazing summer internship. YETI is such a special company because the culture there is incredibly welcoming and everyone is so passionate about what they do. I'm thankful to have been surrounded by so many brilliant people who were so willing to bestow their knowledge and unquie experiences, as well as lend their support and encouragement to my endeavors, teaching me many significant lessons and gifting advice I now carry with me to college! I'd be remiss if I dont start this off by giving a huge thank you to Seth Weiss my mentor and number one advocator! He put so much care and effort into ensuring I was presented with every wonderful opportunity YETI had to offer, he taught me many new methods and tricks I can now apply to both the technical realm and to my soft skills. Working with him is always a pleasure because he's always up for challenging our perspective on whatever assignment we choose to tackle. Thank you Seth, you're an amazing mentor! And of course, Thank you to the entire YETI.com team! Especially to Hannah Foster, Thomas Sebby, Brent Haller, and Isaac Vallee for reviewing my code, providing feedback, and challenging my ideas and next steps as I progressed on my project, I can feel more confident in my work as a developer because of you guys. In addition thank you Dave Monahan, Aaron Crocco, Staci Kae Brookover, Scott Streit and the rest of the team for all the good lucks, best wishes, and encouragement! Meeting you all and learning about your roles and responsibilities was so interesting and inspiring. What an admirable team! During this internship, one of the coolest experiences I had was meeting (and shadowing) the Strategy & Analytics team at Yeti. Huge thank you to Claire Matthews, David Doshier, Adam W., Daniel Byrd, Stephen Stark, and Ron Romanowski for letting me bug you with all my questions and for showing me the impressive work you all do. I've taken so much from the stories and advice you've given me! Finally, as always, I'd like to thank everyone in Code2College for making all of these amazing experiences possible. The lessons learned and the confidence gained to continue advancing in both my academic and career pathways is largely thanks to this wonderful organization making those first key steps possible. As I start my college career, I go knowing I will constantly be looking back on this summer, I would not have had it any other way, YETI taught me so much and left a lasting impression. Thank you again to everyone who made this summer great!

As I wrap up my summer before college, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for my YETI summer internship experience. These past 8-weeks have been truly transformative, and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work with such a fantastic team. From developing A/B tests with to experimenting with UI/UX elements through jQuery, JavaScript, and CSS, every challenge has been a valuable learning experience. A huge shoutout to Zach Parmenter and Christopher Chafin for being amazing mentors and making every day so amusing and insightful. Your guidance and support have made a significant impact on me, and I’m excited to carry these lessons into the next chapter of my life. A special thank you to my beloved Digital Product team—your warmth, kindness, and support made me feel like a true YETIzen. I deeply appreciate how you celebrated even the most mundane wins, believed in me, and entrusted me with meaningful work. I also want to express my gratitude to my Code2College case manager, Dana Ansley, for ensuring everything went smoothly during my internship. Nicole S., thank you for being an amazing Vision 24 advocate, treating me like family. And to my Vision 24 mentor, Sarah Luna, your help with interview prep and the confidence and motivation you instilled allowed me to walk into my internship with much less stress. The amount of shoutouts are endless, and I am forever grateful for everyone’s support. Additionally, I’d like to extend my thanks to Code2College, Matt Stephenson, Ryan Long , and Alessia 'Alex' Cherici, Ph.D. for the abundant amounts of support, and for helping to make this opportunity possible. Your dedication to empowering students in tech is truly inspiring!! Looking forward to staying connected and continuing to build on the skills and experiences I’ve gained. What an incredible experience I had the past two months. I had the honor and privilege to intern at YETI, one of the best companies in Austin (there might be bias in my statement). My days were not only filled with challenges but filled with joy and excitement. Although the challenges were not easy, I couldn't have done it without the amazing people standing behind me. Most notably, my amazing mentor Daniel Byrd. He guided me through every step of my journey and made sure that I not only failed, but learned what it means to succeed. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor. On top of that, I was also greeted by the amazing CS&A team (Allison Underwood,Andrea B., Kaitlyn Drake, David Doshier, Erin Kaivan, Rhett Bailey, Claire Matthews, Edna Diaz, Sabnam K., Adam W., Stephen Stark, Ron Romanowski, Natalia Rosenfield, PhD, and Brad Brewer) all who took me in as if I was one of their own and who never shied away from a question I had. They were a huge part of why the experience was so meaningful and most importantly, taught me what it meant to be a part of a caring community. The next team I work with will have some big shoes to fill to stand in comparison to the CS&A team. Alas, the journey was nothing short of spectacular. I learned so much about what it means to be a part of the professional world and what it takes to grow as a person and as a professional. Every learning I had will undoubtedly be extremely important to my future development and my future career goals. And to those at Code2College, I want to thank you. You are, without a doubt, one of the best organizations I have ever got to be a part of. You create a real change in our communities by giving us the opportunities to intern and are true life-changers. Your work is truly meaningful and could not be done without the amazing people behind the organization. People like Alessia 'Alex' Cherici, Ph.D. and the other amazing staff at Code2College made this experience possible. Thank you. And once again, thank you YETI. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Mentorship is at the core of our work at Code2College and we’re thrilled about today’s feature. Seth Weiss, Senior Software Engineer at YETI, served as a Mentor and Manager for Keira, one of our all-star interns and alumni. After a longstanding partnership, we placed our first two YETI high school interns in Summer 2023. Seth set the bar for mentorship throughout the Summer as he helped his two Summer interns develop skills and familiarity in the E-commerce space and launch a highly impactful app for YETI. Shout out to Seth for his investment in our students and impact with Code2College! And a hearty congratulations to Seth for winning the 2023 Mentor of the Year Award as nominated and voted on by Code2College interns! #highschoolinternships #STEM #ThrowbackThursday

St. Louis is a Gateway to the Future! Welcome to the stage Alison Weber, Chief Creative Officer, Levy Restaurants, Lisa VanBladeren, Sr. Manager, ESG, YETI, Art Rodriquez, VP Operations, ABM Industries, Joe Abernathy, VP Stadium Operations, St. Louis CITY SC, and Matt Sebek, Chief Experience Officer, St. Louis CITY SC. Joe Abernathy explained it best by saying “It’s not about soccer, we’re trying to be a good club and a good neighbor.” A team is so much more than the people on the field. It takes a village to create an institution that really impacts the community in which it exists. In St. Louis, they leverage sports every day to make their communities better, fulfilling the mission of the Green Sports Alliance. #FasterFurther #24GSASummit
