The YMCA International Services’ Refugee Youth Mentoring Program is in need of volunteer mentors. These important adult role models support youth's successful integration by helping them explore their new home city and educational and professional paths, all while practicing English and learning about American culture. The next mentor orientation is March 23, 2024. Please consider investing in our community by helping shape future generations. Can you think of kind, fun, and motivating people who would make a great mentor, culture broker, and tour guide to our refugee youth? Will you please consider telling them why you think they would make a great mentor and share our info? People appreciate knowing they are great humans who can make a difference and feel more moved to take action when they hear it from someone they know. Interest form: https://lnkd.in/g3hEqQWY Hear mentor Bill Bradford's words, after being recognized as the Global Citizen of the Year! We truly offer some incredible opportunities for mentors to grow personally and professionally and make a lasting impact while volunteering. We are only a third of the way in increasing our mentor pool. If you can think of organizations, clubs, church groups, who may be willing for us to present or share this opportunity with, we would appreciate you connecting us. It takes a village! Supportive relationships are critical for all young people, and our movement has been shaping futures & nurturing change across the globe for years. This #InternationalMentoringDay the Refugee Youth Mentoring program is highlighting our 2021, 2022, and 2023 Global Citizen recipients. Cully Platt, , Clara M. Rojas, and Bill Bradford have mentored several international youth in the program, providing unparalleled support to each one of them. From Bill traveling long distances to practice English with his mentees, Clara developing lesson plans and identifying culturally relevant content for her mentees, to Cully facilitating community connections and having tough conversations, they all went above and beyond the ask to be a guiding light to the youth in our program. We are grateful for their continued efforts to raise awareness about YMCA International Services and the incredible values, talent, and diverse cultures the refugee population bring to our community. They are true global citizens!
