Earlier this year, we discovered that many kids in Ridgefield, WA might go hungry once school let out for summer. The YMCA quickly took action, teaming up with the city, library, Lions Club, and Family Resource Center. Together, we’ve served over 3,000 meals this summer, transforming what could have been a hardship into a cherished 'picnic in the park' for local families. 🍽️🌳 Since June 28th, we've provided 1,205 meals every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, thanks to the generous contributions from the community and our partners. With donated items like bread, snacks, and fruit, we've reduced our cost per meal to just $1.15—an incredible community effort. 🙌 Special thanks to our amazing guests and volunteers: - Fire Department with truck and swag - Police Department with Police car and swag - Sean and the Ridgefield Library with books and crafts - Randy E.D. Port of Ridgefield - John, the Mayor - Bridget and friends, school teachers volunteering to build lunches - YMCA Bus and music - Jennifer Lawrence with her beloved parachute—kids absolutely love it! - Special thanks to our volunteer chaplains Molly MacLardy and Kim Bonebrake And more—without their dedication, many families would have faced a challenging summer. Ridgefield missed the government demographic data by just 2%, but through our collective efforts, we ensured that no child went without a meal. This is the heart of our mission, and we are proud to serve. 💪

Roll into Fun with Roller Skating Classes at Our Southeast location! Did you miss out on our summer roller skating classes? Don’t worry—more sessions are gliding your way this September and October! Fall lessons at the Sherwood Y will look a little different than they have in the past. As America’s Swim Instructor, we are always looking for ways to be innovative with our program design and content. Starting with September swim lessons, participants will sign up for a day and time, and we will have enough YMCA Certified instructors to work with swimmers no matter their skill level. Our goal is to promote water safety and build skills in a fluid and consistent way that works with YOUR schedule. Along with the restructure of our program, we are adding and retaining these member benefits: - Members are able to register for multiple months at a time to set up a long-term consistent schedule. - Members can schedule automatic payments for future sessions. - Members will still get a 50% discount from non-member program fees Registration is now open!
