  • Sigrid Gray, BASE Site Director/Summer Camp Coordinator, was recognized for her heroic actions earlier this summer by the Frederick County (MD) Fire & Rescue 🏆 On June 22, 2024, Pat Tennant, parent, noticed a child in distress at the Edward P. Thomas Memorial Pool and immediately jumped into action. Thanks to Pat's quick thinking, the child was pulled from the water and handed over to lifeguards, who, along with bystanders Sara Rose and Sigrid Gray, began life-saving CPR. After several minutes, the child regained consciousness and began breathing on their own. After several minutes, the child regained consciousness and began breathing on their own. • Ricole is a well-known figure in the Frederick arts community, starting his journey in 2003 with the YMCA's Before and After-School program to support his passion for music and studio time. Over the years, he’s made a name for himself as a hip-hop artist, joined the rock band daMOOD, and co-founded the trip-hop duo Bikes—all while remaining a dedicated presence at the YMCA of Frederick County. After 20 years with the Y, Ricole has built strong relationships with coworkers and youth alike, who see him as a role model in the arts. In June, he stepped into the role of Y Art Center Site Director, a natural fit given his extensive experience in both youth mentorship and the local art scene.
