Meet Benji: Building Habits at the Library Every afternoon, you'll find Benji at the library, working on his homework. His mom has made it a family routine, bringing him here to foster discipline and a love for reading. It's inspiring to see young minds growing with the support of our community. At the Yonkers Public Library, we believe in nurturing lifelong learners, one book, one homework session at a time. Start building your family’s library habit today! #YonkersReads #HomeworkTime #LifelongLearning #CommunityAtYPL #YonkersLee #HoraDeTarea #AprendizajeParaTodaLaVida #ComunidadEnYPL

About us
Founded in 1893, Yonkers Public Library is a three-branch public library system serving the residents of Yonkers and surrounding communities; it is also a member of the Westchester Library System. The main branch is the Riverfront Library, a modern four-story public library that includes a 450-seat theater, multiple meeting and study rooms, a local history collection, and a community art gallery. The Riverfront Library is also the location of the agency’s administrative offices. It's located across from the Yonkers train station featuring beautiful views of the Hudson River. The library has two additional branches serving the community. The Grinton I. Will branch serves Eastern Yonkers, while our Crestwood Branch serves the Northeast neighborhoods. All locations offer hundreds of programs and events throughout the year. Our collection is diverse and offers formats in multiple languages.

Last week, we hosted an engaging author talk at the Will Library with Yonkers native James Hannaham, who discussed his book, Didn't Nobody Give a Shit What Happened to Carlotta. We were thrilled to welcome him back, as he used to visit our library in his youth. A special thanks to the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College for their support in making this event possible! #YonkersPublicLibrary #AuthorTalk #Library

Yonkers proudly welcomes the opening of the Sonia Sotomayor School, named after the first Latina and third woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. In 2009, Sotomayor broke boundaries, rising from the Bronx to the highest court in the country. Her journey, from growing up in public housing to graduating from Princeton and Yale, is a true inspiration. In honor of this momentous occasion and #HispanicHeritageMonth, we recommend reading her story in My Beloved World. Visit your local Yonkers Public Library to check out this incredible book! If you've already read it, leave us a comment! #HispanicHeritageMonth #SoniaSotomayor #YonkersPublicLibrary #InspiringStories
