Updates

  • 💥 The Arbitration Pledge is a global movement to address the underrepresentation of women on international arbitral tribunals. It aims to increase the number of women on arbitral tribunals to achieve gender parity, and to improve the profile of women in arbitration more generally.   🚀 In early 2020, during the early onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ERA Pledge Young Practitioners' Subcommittee (YPSC) was launched to promote the Pledge's goals and values among the new generations of the arbitration community.   🎉 The YPSC is led by a diverse cohort of enthusiastic and energetic leaders, looking for innovative ways to raise awareness about the gender gap on arbitral tribunals and generate opportunities for underrepresented members of the arbitration community.   ❓ Why is this important? While female arbitral appointments increased from just 12.2% in 2015 when the Pledge was launched to 21.3% in 2019, there is more work to be done.   👆 Follow the ERA Pledge YPSC for the latest updates on programs, workshops and other events, including practical advice and training for emerging and aspiring arbitrators, engaging with arbitration students around the world to introduce and promote the Pledge, frank conversations about how to combine family and caring responsibilities with a career in arbitration, and discussions around mental health and burnout in the legal profession, particularly among younger women and underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.   #internationalarbitration #genderdiversity #womeninlaw

  • 🎉 Attention all aspiring arbitrators! The ERA Pledge is proudly supporting the Jus Connect and ASA - Swiss Arbitration Association new ✨ Global Tribunal Secretary Platform ✨ . This is a terrific way to access valuable opportunities to get hands-on experience as a tribunal secretary, which can be an important stepping stone to getting arbitral appointments.
