About us
Youth Seen envisions a society where young people are empowered as individuals to access non-judgmental and unbiased treatment in every aspect of their lives. We encourage the creative creation of a community that celebrates everyone’s worth, diverse characteristics and dignity. Our organization works with our communities and stands as a leader in our local Colorado area, and beyond, for establishing partnerships with groups who specifically tailor their resources, education and outreach to our youth and young QTBIPoC/QTPoC/LGBTQI community. Youth Seen strives to highlight the intersections that many communities of color face when addressing social issues that impact families that identify under the umbrella of LGBTQI. This also includes our community members identifying as gender non-conforming, non-binary, genderfluid, genderqueer and two spirit, which is often left out of the mainstream language around services. Given the current political climate, Youth Seen acknowledges the need for our vision to be a living framework which can and will be updated based on the needs of the community. As we are QTBIPoC/QTPoC providers in the community, it is our responsibility to keep the needs in focus despite what the current administration and local agenda supporters perceive. Call or text Youth Seen anytime at 970-462-7498 or email us, info@youthseen.org!

🎉 Happy 7th Anniversary to YouthSeen! 🎉 Today, we celebrate seven incredible years of empowering LGBTQ+ youth, young adults, and their families across Colorado. Founded by Dr. Tara Jae, PhD, MFA in 2017, YouthSeen was born out of their vision to fill the gap in services for queer and trans youth of color. Over the years, we’ve grown to encompass four vital programs: 🌈 Clinical: Offering therapy and case management to support mental health 🌲 CampSeen: Providing youth outreach and exciting programming, including our beloved summer camp. ⚧️ TransSeen: Dedicated to supporting our trans and nonbinary community members. ✊🏿 Black Pride Colorado: Fostering fellowship within our Black queer and trans community. Dr. jae, as founder and Executive Director, has led several incredible milestones at YouthSeen, including: ➡️Partnering with History Colorado to preserve the rich history of Black queer and trans folx in Colorado ➡️ Celebrating June 14th as Black Pride Day in Denver with a Proclamation from the mayor ➡️ Acquiring land for CampSeen and working to restore its historical significance ➡️ Expanding all programs to deepen our community connections As we look to the future as an organization, our mission remains steadfast—to provide life-saving support and expand our reach throughout Colorado and beyond. Together, let’s build a brighter, more inclusive future for all! 💖 https://lnkd.in/gcVHd4Jv #YouthSeenAnniversary #LGBTQSupport#BlackQueerExcellence #CommunityMatters #DonateNow

Happy Anniversary to YouthSeen! Seven years ago, when the idea bubbled into action, while I had the expectation for myself to nurish it to grow, I never expected it to grow in the way that it has. In seven years, we were able to expand 4 amazing programs, aquire land for CampSeen which ultimately be a space for Black queer people to rest. We built out Black Pride Colorado, now having June 14th as Black Pride day in Denver. Building a collaborative relationship with History Colorado to document and archive Black queer stories in our state. Collaborated with Cinema Q of Denver Film to launch BLQ. A platform that focuses on Black Queer films. These are just a few things we have been working on lately that add to the 7 year story of YouthSeen. I am beyond proud of the organization and staff that have supported the mission and vision. There is so much more planned. I may take a moment to rest to prepare for the bigger things we have coming. Here’s to many more years of joy! Thank you Kevin Davis for capturing some of the most joyous moments this year.

Did you catch #CampSeen in the news? CampSeen is one of the only youth summer camps in the country that centers queer and trans BIPOC youth. One of our campers, Iliana said “The amount of people that you meet just in a week span, the amount of bonds that you create in just seven days is amazing.” Watch the whole story: https://lnkd.in/d4zH_uRf
