Yesterday Justin Shuman and I found out the short film we made abut his Valvular Heart Disease diagnosis got accepted to the Denver Film Awards! Thrilled to share that Beyond the Pulse is now a finalist at the Denver Film Awards! I expressed hesitation this past summer when Cameron Kit suggested turning my health journey into a film. But for those who have faced undiagnosed conditions, self-doubt is familiar. I pushed through it, hoping this story would resonate with others. Beyond the Pulse is for anyone who’s felt the fear of knowing something’s wrong but not knowing what. It’s for those grieving altered futures, those battling anger, and those feeling isolated in a journey of grief and uncertainty. Here’s my hope for Beyond the Pulse: ↳ Encourages self-kindness—whether you’re on a scary diagnosis journey or supporting someone who is. ↳ That it motivates you to be your own fiercest advocate. ↳ That it rebuilds trust in your body and intuition. Thank you, Denver Film Awards. Hardship can be a chapter; it doesn't have to be the last chapter. Onward and upward.

⚡️ Amazing energy from the class I taught last night at Cassius Adair's "Storytelling Across Media" course at the The New School. These students went and shot a 60 second silent film in 90 minutes! We covered the basics beforehand- lighting, camera angle, editing techniques, but the creativity was all on them. Half the class had never held a 📽 camera before, the other half pretty much knew the ropes. I love seeing the films they make with tight constraints. I teach this workshop every semester both here and at SVA. 🈯️ What a stupendous honor last week to speak and address the International Conference on Sustainable Airport Areas (SAAIC) in Beijing, China Beijing Daxing Airport City on global Advanced Air Mobility - Vertiport Infrastructure. 60 experts from China, Europe, North America and Asia shared their insight analysis and lively debates. We are moving to a performance-based approach and unified standards. Elevated vs. Ground-Based Vertiports will have different standards. Today’s UAM sector needs to focus on not how much capital has been raised BUT what have they done with the capital. $$ The cash spend will go up when production starts exponentially. Infrastructure will be somewhat easy in the beginning. FBO’s will only need to place chargers at airports, as we will be using existing infrastructure. As we advance for cities across the globe, you will find out each city is like a “snowflake” and will require different needs for different missions, just like EVTOL aircraft. Batteries will play a big role in UAM, however, HYBRIDIZATION will help fill the void for RAM, especially for longer range and fatter payloads. Hydrogen is a hybrid. In June this year, I had the chance to meet Cameron Kit and she came to see me in a panel discussion I did. Afterward, I had the opportunity to be filmed by her and discuss AI.
