As part of our commitment to local community engagement, we are honored to support She Believes in Me (SBIM) through various initiatives, including sponsoring children to attend summer camp and packing school snack bags. This holiday season, we continue our tradition of giving for the 3rd year by sponsoring local families with specific needs to spread warmth, hope, and cheer. Last week, the SBIM founder, Renee Gorman, and the Executive Director, Teri Taylor, visited YRCI’s corporate HQ to explore future partnership opportunities. SBIM is a Herndon, VA-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and supporting young children by providing resources, mentorship, and programs that foster self-confidence and personal growth.

As my 18th Veterans Day ticks by, which also happens to be my birthday, I’m reminded that the military has been part of my life longer than it hasn’t. The experience, discipline, and camaraderie shaped who I am today, and I’m grateful for the incredible support I have received along the way. Today, I’m especially grateful to my company, YRCI and Director, Luis Barés. Being part of a veteran-owned organization means more than a title; it’s a culture of genuine appreciation and respect for those who have served. One of the reasons I transitioned from active duty was to be more present for my family. Working remotely has made that possible in ways I never imagined. The flexibility isn’t just a perk; it’s a gift that allows me to be there for the everyday moments that matter most. Today, receiving a thoughtful gift box in recognition of my service was a fantastic reminder of how much this company values the contributions of veterans. Feeling seen and appreciated in this way reinforces why I’m so grateful to be here. To all my fellow veterans, thank you for your service and sacrifice. Happy Veterans Day.
