If you are struggling to pay rent due to domestic violence, YWCA Clark County is here to support you. We currently have openings in our SafeChoice Eviction Prevention Program, and no preparation is needed in advance for screenings. You may request to speak with a domestic violence advocate for more information and support around domestic violence. Our Eviction Prevention Program provides advocacy and temporary rental assistance for those in need. We currently have two spaces available. Tragically, over 50% of domestic violence homicides in our county occur within the BIPOC community—a disparity that demands immediate action. In response, we are partnering with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office to form a Domestic Violence High Risk Team, an initiative aimed at preventing intimate partner deaths. Today, on Women's Equality Day, we honor the certification of the 19th Amendment, a monumental step in granting women the right to vote. However, it's essential to acknowledge that this right was not initially extended to all women. Women of color had to fight for decades longer to achieve full equality under the law.
