We had a great group of volunteers today for the United Way of the Capital Region Day of Caring 2024. Volunteers came from McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC, TEKsystems, and Phoenix Contact USA to help us beautify our building inside and out! They painted, weeded, mulched and cleaned. Our Junior Board teamed up visited with the kids for an awesome “Cupcakes & Careers” event! 🧁✨ They chatted about their careers while munching on delicious cupcakes and sipping on juice. The Junior Board of the YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking qualified applicants for service starting with its 2024-2025 term! The YWCA Junior Board consists of a dynamic group of young women who are committed to raising awareness and funds in support of the mission and operations of the YWCA Greater Harrisburg. In recent years, the Junior Board has focused its efforts on raising money for our Child Development Programs. Our Junior Board members work to develop leadership and community service skills, and to mentor and foster those who have a desire to serve the greater Harrisburg community. This #PrideMonth, we're joining with YWCA USA to celebrate women advocating for the rights of LGBTQIA+ community. Author and activist Angela Davis is internationally known for her work to confront all forms of oppression in the US and abroad. She has consistently worked to dismantle oppression faced by the Black community, women and the LGBTQIA+ community. 🏳️🌈

On Tuesday, our team visited the Sweetest Place on Earth and had a blast with coworkers, family and friends at our annual Staff Retreat. The weather was beautiful and it was a great reminder that while the work we do can be difficult, finding time for self care is important.
