YWCA Quad Cities has been deeply dedicated to helping families and women in the Quad Cities community for more than a century. Located in downtown Rock Island, the YWCA QC provides a safe space for health and wellness, dependable childcare, career development and every day assistance. Through a variety of programs and events like the YW Tech Lab, The Yes She Can Series, Race Against Racism and The Place2Be, the YWCA QC consistently strives to better the community to create a more inclusive space for everyone to achieve their goals.

    The YWCA EmpowerHER event on Tuesday, Oct. 29 brought together a diverse panel of speakers to discuss vital topics surrounding women's health. With a focus on empowerment and education, the panel featured experts from a wide range of fields - maternal healthcare, mental wellness, breast and ovarian cancer, autoimmune diseases, and heart health. They shared valuable insights on issues such as reproductive health, mental health awareness, and the importance of preventative care. Attendees gained practical knowledge about navigating healthcare systems, advocating for their own health needs, and understanding the unique challenges women face. The event fostered an engaging dialogue, encouraging participants to ask questions and share their experiences. Overall, the EmpowerHER event not only informed but also inspired women to take charge of their health and well-being, creating a supportive community dedicated to empowerment and education.     As we wrapped up the YWCA’s Week Without Violence 2024, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in this important week of learning, action, and reflection. Not all violence is acknowledged or responded to equally. On this final day of the Week Without Violence, we call on everyone to understand the causes of this disparity and do their part to confront these underlying issues through: -Education and Awareness -Support and Empathy -Legal Reforms -Resource Equality -Challenging Stereotypes Together, we can make a difference and create a safer, more inclusive world for everyone.
