About us

The sole purpose of YWCARF is to provide retirement benefits for employees of participating YWCA associations in the United States. YWCARF is one of the oldest pension plans in the country, the first pension fund for women, and it predates Social Security. The Fund was established as a complete, separate, and independent identity incorporated in the State of New York in 1924, and began operation in September 1925 with initial funding provided by a $1.8 million donation from the Rockefeller family. It operates as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. We are proud to support YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
