Teams often get vision and mission mixed up. Do you know the difference between the two? An organization's mission defines their purpose, its reason for existing. It focuses on what the organization does, whom it serves, and how it serves them. It is oriented towards the present, describing the organization's ongoing efforts and daily activities. A vision, however, outlines the organization's long-term aspirations and desired future state. It describes what the organization aims to achieve in the future. It is forward-looking and aspirational, often projecting a horizon of five to ten years or more. Yes, we must be mission-driven to get amazing work done now. But, we also have to have a common vision to know where we are going together in the future. Does your team have both in mind?

Going crazy looking for that SOP you need? 😵💫 SOPs, or Standard Operating Procedures, are a critical way to document the steps of your processes, but if nobody can find them then what's the point? Consistent naming conventions make it easier for you to quickly understand the purpose of an SOP without having to open it. Plus, it makes it easier to follow the pattern and find what you need. Here's the format we follow: • DEPT / PROGRAM - Process Name [date updated] • HR - Recruiting [June 27, 2024] We build our SOPs as a resource library in our project management system. At a minimum, we suggest setting up a shared folder for each of these documents to live, making them easy to find when you need to get work done. ✅ ✅ ✅

Are your teams feeling frustrated and bogged down by their work? Do they see their efforts as mere busy work, disconnected from the bigger picture? If so, it's time to re-evaluate the way you communicate organizational objectives to your teams. One of the biggest culprits of employee disengagement is a lack of understanding about how individual efforts contribute to larger goals. When employees don't see the connection between their work and the organization's objectives, it's easy to feel like their work doesn't matter. To combat this, we recommend conducting regular check-in sessions with your teams. Use these sessions to help employees understand how their work aligns with the bigger picture. By doing so, you'll help them see the impact of their efforts and how they contribute to organizational objectives. The benefits of this approach are two-fold. First, it helps employees feel more engaged and motivated in their work. When they understand how their efforts contribute to the success of the organization, they're more likely to be invested in their work and work cohesively towards common goals. Second, it can lead to increased productivity and better results. When everyone is working towards the same objectives, it's easier to stay focused and achieve success. Don't let your teams feel disconnected from the bigger picture.
