It's been a fun and exciting two years for Zenith Semiconductor. Below is an update on the progress. • Our first product is smaller than and superior to (PSRR, transient response, load regulation in actual customer application) competitor similar products. This product will start Product Qualification soon. Several customers are very interested. • Our second product will finish manufacturing (fab & assembly) soon. • We are currently designing three derivative products. • We’ve recently hired a great DE who will begin design of a product with additional new IP. • Zenith Semiconductor is now 2 years old. • We have a solid onsite lab with two fully equipped product validation benches, additional solder bench, hot/cold oven, and a probe station with hot chuck that is used frequently. • We are in Chandler, AZ, on the 4th floor with a great view & commitment to, and now 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 of, fun & reasonable hours.

Celebration of attained goals or objectives is always important, but never pop the Champagne early. You may have noticed these bottles in the background of prior posts by myself and you will notice they are still unopened. We have achieved many objectives in our first two years of existence at Zenith Semiconductor and we have learned a lot, but we do not feel worthy of celebrating at this level just yet. We are having fun and we do acknowledge the small victories that come along with creating your own semiconductor IP from a blank sheet of paper with only the support of our small but talented team. Stay tuned for when we pop the cork at Zenith-semi.com.

Now that the summer Olympics are over, remember the sport you will play longest in your life is that of your career. Embrace the challenge and celebrate your victories as well as the victories of others. Study and train to perform at your best. Be proud of your accomplishments and bring the next generation along through purposeful mentoring. Compete with outside competitors, not your internal team. This is not an individual sport, but one that takes a team to win. Stay engaged, be present and optimize the use of your time while away from your family and friends.

When you absolutely need a 180C thermal chuck for developing high temperature silicon product IP and don't have the budget needed to buy one. Take the heating element from an inexpensive counter-top electric stove that is close to the circumference of the chuck. Drill a small hole in the backside of the chuck to imbed a temp sensor, be certain to avoid hitting the vacuum tunnel that leads to the center of the chuck. Secure this sensor with high temp liquid metal. Apply thermal grease to the surface of the heating element to ensure good thermal conductivity to the backside of the chuck. Cut out a circle slightly larger than the chuck from a half inch thick fireplace insulator board, secure the chuck mounting collar to this board then secure the board to the backside of the chuck. This board provides thermal insulation between the hot chuck and the chuck mounting hardware/probe station. You can then use a variable transformer as an AC power source capable of regulating the temperature. At Zenith Semiconductor we find a way to get things done while keeping expenses low and still having fun. Feedback welcome.

Real time PSRR comparison showing superior results (Nearly 12 db) of Zenith Semiconductor's power management product over the BOM compatible competition, exact same board, component values, and load. Top trace is AC signal on top of input DC supply, pink trace Zenith output voltage, green trace competitor output voltage. If you look close at low frequency you can even see the better noise performance of the Zenith product. Stay tuned as Zenith reaches higher.

Like my cars, things are moving fast at Zenith Semiconductor (Zenith-semi.com). We are hiring design engineers that are excited to take on design from a blank sheet of paper, are you willing? We are also hiring a manufacturing engineer to push test and packaging development. Mask designers with TSMC PDK experience are also needed. Reach out to someone at Zenith if you are interested.
