Private Equity Continues to Invest in Pharma Patient Services/HUB Companies. Notably this year, PharmaCord, AssistRX, and CoPilot have had Private Equity take partial or complete ownership in their organizations. These transactions are potentially impactful when/if key leadership rotates out of the organization. It is important to understand the strategic long term vision of these PE acquisitions — You should always be aware of ownership changes within the vendors you consider key strategic partners. Zensights can assist you in navigating and understanding the potential implications of these and other variables associated with Patient Services and HUB vendors. #PrivateEquityInPharma #PatientServices #HUB #Zensights

Here’s what you need to know about Life Science M&A activity in Q2 2024: ✓ Slower M&A Activity: This quarter, we observed five acquisitions within our monitored life science markets, maintaining the same level as Q2 last year but trending below the average over the past two years. This could indicate a cyclical dip or a broader slowdown in merger activity. ✓ Strategic Consolidation: Companies are increasingly merging to expand capabilities. Q2 deals prominently featured the integration of health-related PR with medical communications and omnichannel services, showing a market shift towards comprehensive solutions over fragmented services. ✓ Cross-Industry Integration: The trend of merging non-healthcare capabilities with healthcare-specific suppliers continues. While this approach has seen mixed results in the past, it remains a strategic focus for many companies aiming for diversified service offerings. ✓ Private Equity Movements: Interestingly, there’s been a reduction in private equity-initiated deals this quarter. PE firms appear to be concentrating on integrating prior acquisitions or preparing for exits, rather than pursuing new investments. > What’s Next? Stay informed with Zensights as we keep you updated on the latest market movements and strategic shifts in the life sciences sector. #LifeSciences #MandA #IndustryTrends #ZensightsUpdate

We are excited to welcome Timothy Glennon as the newest Subject Matter Expert to join the Zensights team. With over 26 years in the industry, Tim brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise of the pharmaceutical industry to our organization. He has spent the last decade living and breathing all things pharma startups, following many successful years in large pharma. Tim has a unique perspective on corporate strategy, sales, marketing, commercial operations, and strategic planning. His proven track record of success in launching products, building teams, and driving revenue growth makes him an invaluable addition to our team.   Tim’s career journey began at Bayer, where he spent 14 years progressing swiftly through leadership positions, launching ~10 products, leading teams across 10 states, and securing new business development opportunities and partnerships. In 2012, Tim transitioned to Teva Pharmaceuticals, revitalizing their women’s health franchise. Under his leadership, and through his self-proclaimed obsession with P&L analysis and strategic planning, Tim’s team achieved a 50% revenue growth over three years. After much success at the largest manufacturer of generic drugs in the US, Tim’s next venture took him to a much different scale - the dynamic world of startups.   As VP of Sales and Marketing at Evofem Biosciences, Tim played a crucial role in building the company's commercial infrastructure. His responsibilities spanned sales, marketing, and sales operations, while also supporting clinical operations, and manufacturing. “In small pharma,” Tim shared, “you’re exposed to the entire organization. Whereas in large pharma you are siloed and I knew my vertical inside and out, with Evofem I was part of the leadership team engaging CMO and CRO partners, broadening my perspective of the entire pharmaceutical organization.” This exposure highlighted for him the importance of understanding the cost impact of each and every decision. 6 years later, Tim was serving as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Portfolio Strategy and Business Development, and Evofem had positioned itself as a leader in contraception, improving the lives of women worldwide. After his success at Evofem, Tim joined Veru Pharmaceuticals as their Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Sales Operations. There, he was responsible for developing and enhancing all aspects of sales and marketing strategy for their sexual health division.   Reflecting on his journey, Tim notes, "In today’s world, regulatory approval is not enough for commercial success; we must bridge drug development and commercial planning to truly succeed." As Tim joins Zensights as a SME, we are excited to leverage his expertise to guide small pharmaceutical companies through the complexities of drug development and commercialization. His passion for improving the lives of patients and driving business success will undoubtedly make a significant impact on our community. #ZensightsSME

Introducing Bob Roe, who has recently joined Zensights as a Subject Matter Expert! With a career spanning three decades and a remarkable talent for integrating sales and data science, Bob brings a wealth of experience that we are excited to have on board. Known for his expertise in market access and sales strategy, Bob's deep industry knowledge and innovative approach make him a valuable addition to our team.   Bob’s entry into the pharmaceutical world is rooted in his accounting background, combined with a natural disposition for sales. Beginning with an expansive territory in the West Coast, first as a Sales Rep, and then as a District Manager, Bob quickly made his mark growing sales and managing a motivated team. When Bob’s boss took a job with CSL Behring, she took Bob with her to run hospital sales. There, he led hospital reps across the southern US, and his region ranked #1 in total volume and volume increase each year over his four-year tenure. From CSL Behring, he was recruited to Watson Pharmaceuticals where he ran a region of 80-90 reps in the Midwest for about 7 years.    In 2010, Bob foresaw the rising importance of managed care and took the initiative to form a specialized team to tackle this emerging challenge. He founded Glacier Pharma and took on the task of understanding how managed care may impact the future of sales. “I saw that the future was large molecule injectables from a managed care and contracting perspective,” he shared. This foresight culminated in Glacier Pharma focusing on large molecule injectables and helping emerging companies navigate the US payer landscape. For the last decade, Bob has been in this role working with pharmaceutical manufacturers to contract with all payer types, ensuring access and ensuring that they are well-positioned in the market.   Bob's comprehensive knowledge of market access and his ability to develop and execute strategic sales strategies make him an exceptional addition to Zensights. We are excited to welcome Bob and look forward to the expertise he will bring to our community. #ZensightSME #MarketAccess #SalesStrategy

"Mission-based leadership is centralized understanding of intent, and decentralized implementation of execution. Trust is the holy grail."    At the core of mission-based leadership, highlighted at the last Zensights Leadership Summit, lies a simple approach: clearly define the mission and then trust your team to execute it.   ✓ Centralized Understanding of Intent: Ensure everyone understands the mission’s intent. This clarity aligns the team towards a common goal, creating a unified direction and eliminating ambiguity.    ✓ Decentralized Implementation of Execution: Great leaders trust their team to determine the best way to achieve the objectives. This unleashes creativity, initiative, and ownership, leading to more dynamic and effective problem-solving.    ✓ Trust as the Holy Grail: By empowering subordinates, leaders demonstrate their confidence in their team. When people feel trusted and valued, they are more likely to contribute their best efforts and insights.    #Leadership #MissionDriven #Empowerment #Trust #CollectiveIntelligence #ZensightsLeadershipSummit
