The ability to have NFC along with that allows for the mobile credentials to be used, but in a form that is more convenient. ⭐ We can do so much more with locks if we can solve communication pathway when not working with single-source locks. If you lose a key, you hope that no one finds it. Which is a terrible solution. But if your password is compromised, you just change the password. So this drives the adoption of these new technologies. ⭐ The ability of credential flexibility is very important. I could use my Apple Watch to open my door. And I use it all the time now. But you need to look to bringing in what already works in hospitality, or what is being used in student housing. ⭐ Taking everything to the cloud allows access control to be used by anyone you want to access it. For example: license plate recognition, or facial recognition: passive access control that makes it easy, but not too easy. ⭐ Even if there are multiple systems involved, integration should make it look like just one system to the end user. Whoever can standardize the experience for the future users will be in a good place. ⭐ There’s both short term and long term in smart access control: Short term, 30% reduction in theft, 15% reduction in insurance. Long term: opportunity to attract a higher quality tenant.
