Researchers discovered this pearl in 2017 at a Neolithic settlement on Marawah Island, a key archaeological site located about 20 kilometres off the coast of the United Arab Emirates and more than 100 km west of Abu Dhabi, providing the earliest evidence of pearl diving in the region.
