A groundbreaking new paper published in the journal Nature Water underscores the immense potential of decentralized water treatment - an approach that ZwitterCo's advanced membrane technology is helping to maximize. The study, conducted by researchers at UC Berkeley, engineering firm @ Brown and Caldwell, and other institutions, found that distributed wastewater treatment and resource recovery systems can deliver water reuse, energy recovery, and nutrient recovery at dramatically higher rates and around half the cost of conventional centralized treatment plants. At ZwitterCo, while we weren’t involved in the study, we're seeing these benefits come to life every day. By equipping industrial facilities with cutting-edge membranes that seamlessly integrate into their existing treatment trains, we're enabling clients to: 💧 Recycle 90%+ of their process water, insulating their operations from water scarcity 💧 Cut disposal costs 💧 Unlock new revenue streams from waste As the paper's authors note, innovative approaches like ZwitterCo's will be increasingly vital as aging centralized infrastructure struggles to keep up with growing demands and water stress driven by climate change and population growth.
