Qualcomm launched a new line of ARM processors for Windows laptops called Snapdragon X Elite. These processors are competitive with AMD and Intel offerings in terms of performance and efficiency, but they fall short of Apple's M series chips in efficiency. The key takeaways are: 🔹Performance: Snapdragon X Elite offers good multi-core performance but lags behind Apple M chips in single-core performance. 🔹Efficiency: Snapdragon X Elite is more efficient than AMD and Intel chips but trails behind Apple M chips. 🔹Compatibility: Some software can have compatibility issues, especially games. 🔹Battery life: Snapdragon laptops can offer good battery life due to efficiency, but passively cooled devices are not yet available. Overall, Snapdragon X Elite is a promising first-generation product for Windows on ARM laptops. It offers competitive performance and efficiency but faces stiff competition from Apple and upcoming offerings from AMD and Intel. Buying a Snapdragon laptop depends on factors like price, compatibility needs, and whether passively cooled options become available. #microsoft #copilotplus #copilotpluspc #laptops #consumerelectronics #ai #aipcs #qualcomm #snapdragonxelite #arm #amd #intel #benchmarks #performance #efficiency #compatibility #batterylife #technology #technologynews

Dell is set to significantly upgrade their XPS 13 Plus laptops with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor. This chip offers a major leap in battery life, lasting almost twice as long as the previous Intel processors during video playback. This is due to both the efficiency of the Snapdragon X and the lower cost, allowing Dell to put more resources into the battery itself. The Snapdragon X is also significantly cheaper for Dell to purchase compared to the Intel chips used previously. This cost saving allows Dell to offer a competitive starting price of $1,199 for a new XPS 13 with the Snapdragon X, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a full HD display. Overall, the Snapdragon X appears to be a major upgrade for the XPS 13 line, offering much better battery life at a potentially lower price point. #dell #qualcomm #techgiants #SoC #snapdragonx #cpus #processors #laptops #consumerelectronics #battelylife #technology #technologynews

Qualcomm's keynote at Computex 2024 was mostly a celebration of their partnership with Microsoft for #Copilot+ PCs. CEO Cristiano Amon emphasized Qualcomm's commitment to PCs, announcing that #Snapdragon X chips will be available in all PC form factors. This move signals Qualcomm's significant presence in the #Windows PC market, potentially challenging established players like AMD and Intel Corporation. Despite the anticipation, the true impact of Snapdragon PCs remains to be seen until devices hit the market. Nevertheless, Qualcomm's push has spurred competition, with AMD and Intel also innovating to keep up. Ultimately, this competition benefits consumers with improved hardware options. Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite, slated to power laptops from various OEMs in 2024, has been put to the test against Intel's Core Ultra 7 155H. The Lenovo 83ED, featuring the Snapdragon X Elite, has surfaced on Geekbench and scored 1,628 points in single-core and 11,392 points in multi-core tests. However, the scores are lower than Qualcomm's in-house benchmark scores. This pre-production sample with an 8+4 CPU configuration requires fine-tuning before hitting shelves. The Snapdragon X Elite's poor performance could also affect the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4's launch in October. The Lenovo 83ED comes with 32 GB of RAM and runs on an Insider Preview of Windows 11 Pro. #qualcomm #SnapdragonXElite #chipsets #SoC #hardware #computerhardware #lenovo #Lenovo83ED #laptops #geekbench #benchmarks #chips

Microsoft Copilot+ Launching First on Snapdragon, But Intel/AMD Support Coming Soon… Microsoft's highly anticipated new AI assistant Copilot+ is set to debut on June 18th, but there's an interesting platform support detail to be aware of. According to the latest reports, Copilot+ will initially launch exclusively on Windows PCs powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors. These Arm-based chips will be the first to get access to Copilot+'s advanced AI capabilities, including features like Recall and Cocreator. However, Microsoft has confirmed that support for devices running on Intel and AMD x86 processors is also in the works. The company says Copilot+ compatibility for traditional Intel and AMD-based laptops and desktops is planned for later this year, sometime in Q4. The reason for this initial Snapdragon exclusivity seems to be that Microsoft has been working closely with Qualcomm to optimize Copilot+ for their latest Arm-based chips. The Snapdragon lineup apparently meets Copilot+'s performance requirements, while Intel and AMD are just now catching up with their newest 50 TOPS-capable laptop CPUs. Even so, the rollout for Snapdragon PCs may not be completely smooth sailing. Reports indicate Microsoft is still "working fast and hard" to get Copilot+ ready in time for the June 18th debut. If you're in the market for a new Windows PC and Copilot+'s AI features are a priority, you may want to hold off until support expands to include Intel and AMD options as well. The wait could be worth it to get the full Copilot+ experience on your preferred hardware. What are your thoughts on Microsoft's Copilot+ launch strategy? Let me know in the comments! #Microsoft #Copilot #Snapdragon #Intel #AMD #Windows #AIPC #TechNews"

💻 Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chips: a new era for windows laptops? tl;dr: Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X chips deliver impressive performance and battery life, potentially shaking up the Windows laptop market and challenging Apple, Intel, and AMD. * * * 🏎️ The Big Picture: Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus chips power a new breed of Windows laptops - "Copilot Plus PCs" - that promises incredible battery life and performance comparable to some of the best Intel and AMD-powered devices. Based on the thorough testing performed by The Verge, while Apple's M3 chip still holds the crown in single-core tasks, Qualcomm's multicore performance outpaces most of the competition (except for Apple's M2 Max and M3 Max). 🔋 What it means for You: You'll soon be experiencing the power and responsiveness of a high-end laptop with the battery life of a tablet. These new Snapdragon chips excel in everyday productivity tasks and offer a smooth, lag-free experience. 🚀 My take on it: Qualcomm's focus on power efficiency with the Snapdragon X series, combined with Microsoft's commitment to Windows on Arm, could finally offer a compelling alternative to Intel and AMD-powered laptops. However, there are still some hurdles to overcome. While everyday performance is excellent, graphics-intensive tasks show the limitations of integrated GPUs. Gaming, especially, remains a mixed bag, with limited native Arm support and reliance on emulation for many titles. But to make this happen, the real question is: will developers embrace Arm64 and unlock the full potential of these chips? Early benchmarks with native Arm64 applications show significant performance gains. The future of Windows on Arm might hinge on wider software support. #Innovation #AITechnology #SnapdragonX #WindowsLaptops #TechLeaders #AIOnBoard Image credit: Qualcomm
