We’re half-way through Pride Month 2024! This year we’re sharing personal stories from the community at #TeamVirginMediaO2 and what Pride means to them 🏳️🌈 Balal Naseer from our Fraud team share his experience with Pride and the community: "I fall somewhere between fluid and queer. Whilst Pride is a celebration and beautiful display of togetherness, the fight continues every day for equal rights for every person within our community. For me, coming from a South Asian and Muslim background, Pride and the community have always been important as this is where I found my own personal tribe and chosen family. We need to continue to equally celebrate our history and present, as well as striving for pure and simple equality. We still live in a world which continues to feel it’s right to vilify and attack people for being who they are. This needs to change for us to be able to fully develop and prosper within the general global society." #PrideMonth2024 #Pride

In times of turmoil, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters—human dignity and rights. While profit may drive growth, true progress lies in upholding the values of compassion, empathy, and justice. As the world grapples with political tensions and conflicts, it's more important than ever to stand firm in defense of human rights. Every individual deserves to live free from fear, oppression, and discrimination, regardless of nationality, race, or belief. Let's reject narratives that seek to undermine human rights in the pursuit of power or profit. Instead, let's come together in solidarity to support those who are most vulnerable and advocate for a future where everyone can thrive in peace and dignity. At Q2-Computing, we believe in using technology and innovation to build a more just and equitable world. Join us in promoting respect for human rights, both locally and globally. Together, we can make a difference. #StandWithUkraine #HumanRights #AWomansChoice #LGBTQA #NeuroDivergent #Justice #Equality #Compassion #Empathy

Quote posting this because my reply on the misleading post, sharing what JKR actually said has been deleted by the author 😃 (as are atleast 2 other civil replies from people who had a different viewpoint!) The image in the post is misleading because JKR didn't say 'she won't forgive...for trans rights support'. Her actual words are far more specific and convey a different meaning (see screenshot of JKR's reply to a follower in comments). The follower's tweet was in context of a recent review of gender care, commissioned by UK's NHS, by Dr.Cass, which highlighted, among other things, the lack of evidence on the safety and long term effects of puberty blockers on minors. The review was initiated after whistleblowers at gender clinics raised concerns. Beyond this topic, what also concerns me is this trend of condemnation while repelling a nuanced civil discourse on a contentious subject. In this case, a complex and sensitive one too. Such subjects require a genuine interest in truth and test our lymbic reactions to something that doesn't confirm to our beliefs. The associated point is how easily we can be misled by social media. [Disclaimer: I am not an expert on the topic of gender but have been curious about it, and open to be challenged. If you are interested, would strongly recommend listening to the 7 episode Podcast 'The Tavistock: Inside the gender clinic'. It covers the complexity of the subject in a very nuanced & sensitive manner without compromising on critical thinking. I heard it on Apple podcasts and is available here too: https://lnkd.in/g-btwime]
Watching JK Rowling tweet her way into Transphobia must have been a nightmare for all Potterheads 😖 Imagine this, someone, a woman, who built an entire fictional world that spoke of merit, opportunity, equal access is now unable to accept people of all sexualities. I wonder, what is the difficulty for such people to be inclusive. Where is this insecurity coming from? What do we lose by celebrating diversity? Unless, all they cared about was withholding that power just for themselves. As a leader, here's a crucial lesson. Never be soooo subsumed in your power/glory that you fail the teams who cheered you on. Sigh, another legend bites the dust and how. I'm curious what ya'll are thinking about this. #HarryPotter #Inclusion #Transphobia

June is the Pride Month. Pride month is a space ... to celebrate the rich texture of gender and sexual identities ... to appreciate queer art and literature in its many forms, a lot of which is familiar, but not always visible in our cultural space ... to part take and show solidarity to the LGTBQI+ liberation movement ... to recall that the movement is about survival, human rights and recognition for people to be who they are ... to remember that countless LGTBQI+ people across the globe live under suppression and persecution ... to realise I don't need to know and understand everything on gender and sexual identities to be an ally and advocate for all people to live free ... to be conscious that even democratically sealed rights are being questioned and threatened for political purposes ... to ask how my organisation is taking real steps to support their LGTBQI+ community, not just waving the flags ... to challenge any of my own binary ways of thinking ... to join the march in my home town and have a splash of a time! Happy Pride Month! For members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Canada, Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate how far we’ve come as a community while also pledging to work much harder to fight for queer people whose rights are still being undermined here at home and around the world. The backdrop to this year’s Pride Month is not all sunshine and lolipops. We know that incidents of homophobia are on the rise in Canada; we also know all too well that transphobic rhetoric is spiking among some in our political class: both in Canada and the U.S. The result: regressive legislation and government policies being tabled at the provincial and state levels that put lives in jeopardy. We must be clear about this and send the unambiguous message that queer people won’t be used as pawns in American-style culture wars for political gain. Lastly, we can’t forget that Pride has — and will always have — its roots deeply cemented in protest. As we look forward to celebrating this month over the coming 30 days, let’s not forget our queer history and the progress we’ve made through blood, sweat and tears; but let’s also remind ourselves of how far we still have to go, and be conscious of the millions of people around the globe who are relying on us to fight for their human rights. Happy Pride! Let’s make this month a memorable one. #PrideMonth #2SLGBTQ #HumanRights #cdnpoli

🌍✨ Art has the power to provoke thought, inspire change and challenge the status quo. We’re excited to share the reinstallation of V.L. Cox's impactful "End Hate" doors at the West End in New York. Originally installed in 2015 on the steps of the Arkansas State Capitol, this powerful artwork was a response to the controversial Arkansas House Bill 1228, a bill that many felt would enable discrimination under the guise of religious freedom. 🚪 The "End Hate" installation, featuring doors labelled “Whites Only,” “LGBTQ Only,” and “Immigrants Only,” serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of division and segregation. It challenges us to reflect on the barriers that still exist in society and the importance of standing against hate in all its forms. 🔗 The final door, labelled “Human Being” and wrapped in chains, underscores a critical message for us as crowd management professionals: No matter the event or gathering, our role is to ensure every individual is respected, safe, and treated with equality. This piece reminds us that, despite our differences, we are all human beings deserving of dignity. As crowd professionals, we are committed to creating inclusive and safe environments for all. Art installations like "End Hate" remind us of the importance of our work in fostering unity, breaking down barriers and promoting equality in every crowd we manage. They are quite something - the questions we asked our colleagues from the LGBT+Friends employee network and the Allies. Some are provocative, some are funny, others are very serious. But they are all important. We asked them in order to enter into an open dialog, dispel stereotypes and break down prejudices. First, we show you the interview with Larissa and Gabriele. Would you like to join in? Then write us your answers to the questions in the comments! We look forward to it and to all comments that support an open and respectful dialog. #pridemonth #wemeanpride #BASFpride
