We all experience career milestones representing "firsts" or specific moments we are proud of. I had one yesterday. Last year I was offered the opportunity to author an updated version of Jeff Hiatt's book "ADKAR: A Model for Change in Business, Government and Our Community" (c) 2006. The new book, "The ADKAR Advantage: Your New Lens for Successful Change" (c) 2024, was uploaded yesterday to Prosci's commercial printer and to Amazon. It will be available for purchase in April. This new book includes additional research that validates the promise of ADKAR, application examples and success stories that demonstrate the proof of ADKAR, and the latest recommendations and guidance that advance the practice of applying ADKAR. If you are new to ADKAR or already an ADKAR enthusiast, there is something for you in this book. 😯 71% of US CEOs say they feel like imposters 🤔 I know I was surprised to see that stat #KornFerry shares from a recent survey! And, the higher up the org chart someone ascends, the more acutely they feel imposter syndrome. What is behind this? It's not a lack of confidence or experience. Rather it's the massive number of significant challenges simultaneously: 🤺 transform their organizations 🤺 be the culture carriers 🤺 figure out the role of #AI in their business 🤺 navigate geopolitical challenges 🤺 satisfy investors 🤺 speak to social issues So the combo of being confident AND humble is effective. This opens up the path to know you don't have all the answers and you don't need to pretend. A few suggestions to up your odds of success: 👉 hire direct reports that push you up vs you pulling them up 👉 have an "advisor" or #peeradvisory trusted group where you can share your challenges and gain perspectives and d options 👉 learn how to tap into your creative side 👉 be intentional about staying healthy (sleep, diet, exercise, meditation) How else might you do to manage your imposter syndrome? It’s normal to feel unease in such tumultuous times. Economic instability, humanitarian crises, entering an election year. We’re battling uncertainty from all angles. Organizations are also navigating external pressures while trying to execute DE&I strategies and maintain inclusive workspaces.   As DE&I and HR professionals, we have to create foundational principles and values to help support your employees and the organization during times of uncertainty – and a great place to start is knowing the benefits your company offers. Critical thinking skills were fully engaged at today's Twin Cities Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Roundtable.
