Great summary but the "future" section missed the critical part: "intent" 🤓 Capturing Intent is the future of Design 🚀 Generative design and associated AI algorithms that are undoubtedly part of that future described by Gabriella G. and Eric Flaningam are only really empowered if they know what to build for. Starting with intent provides that foundation. Without intent capture, that info has to be added in manually, and at the end we only end up with drawings/CAD. These are EXTREMELY poor at communicating what was actually intended. If in the future we have to re-engineer the designs for modern methods, machines or materials, and all we had to go on were the drawings, we'd have to start from first principles - as everybody now reverse engineering parts for #3dprinting is having to do - right Andreas Vlahinos? With intent and perfect algo's, we could just re-run the data through modern algorithms with new manufacturing constraints. Imagine if we could simply feed updated constraints into the algorithm, and—boom—our designs adapt automatically ✨ This isn't science fiction. With LLMs, we don’t even need structured intent data anymore. We can extract it from natural language. But here’s the issue: intent is still trapped in our heads, emails, and scattered conversations. That's why we built Threads (www.authentisethreads.com) – to centralize those conversations and make intent capture part of the workflow. Ultimately, workflow tools like Authentise will become more and more important to move intent through multiple algorithms, into product. That's the only way to radically shorten the time it takes to move an idea into a part. Some big CAD companies have understood that. Once they've fully moved their products online, they'll start releasing the underlying API's, which gives startups 1000's of attack surfaces rather than just one monolithic system to compete with. I know of at least one of the 4 incumbents will announce this in Q4 this year. So excited to see what the future holds once that releases. When someone says: We are AI-first, AI-Driven, AI-Centered I always think: How? When did we decide to change User-Centered to AI-Centered? Recently, every discussion centers on AI. Everyone has a use case in mind. However, upon closer examination, it often seems like we’re just attempting to add AI to something that already works. Let me share a personal experience: A while back, one of our clients embarked on an AI project without thoroughly understanding the customer needs. They were determined to leverage AI and offer groundbreaking solutions. However, the end result wasn’t as valuable as they had expected. Why? Because they started with the technology itself, instead of focusing on our customers and their inherent problems. We made them rethink this approach. AI isn’t a cure-all, especially without a solid data strategy. Here’s what I’ve learned: Start with your use case and user needs, then think tech. Instead of chasing the latest AI trends, embrace a customer/user-centric mindset. Ask yourself, “How can AI truly enhance value?" By doing so, you’ll ensure better customer experiences and avoid the common pitfall of building AI-powered products/solutions that miss the mark. Take the time to understand your users’ pain points, operational challenges, and desires. Then, leverage AI strategically to address those specific needs. Remember, innovation is about solving problems, not just being technologically advanced. Your AI endeavors should align with your customers’ goals and offer tangible solutions. Don’t just hop on the AI bandwagon for the sake of it. Now, I invite you to reflect on your own AI initiatives. Are they truly customer/user-driven?
