Job description:

The Assembler I is responsible for performing repetitive bench-type assembly operations to mass produce various radiator cores. This position involves working under general supervision, with specific work assignments provided. The Assembler I is expected to resolve most problems independently, seeking supervisory assistance when necessary. All work is subject to final inspection and testing to ensure compliance with established specifications, minimizing scrap and controlling labor and material expenses. Adherence to the Company’s Six Sigma principles is essential.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review job orders (written or verbal) to determine material needs.
  • Select and assemble the correct materials and parts for building specific cores.
  • Perform various manual tasks to assemble cores, including:
  • Inserting fins into fin tables.
  • Inserting tubes into fins to create core blocks.
  • Operating the bake oven (setting bake time/temperature, ensuring cores are square).
  • Attaching headers to cores using a mallet.
  • Using a fin comb and torch to straighten fins or repair fin gaps.
  • Cleaning cores using high-pressure wash.
  • Inspect cores for imperfections and prepare/attach core tags.
  • Maintain a clean work area and regularly clean core building equipment and other tools.
  • Always work in a safe manner.
  • Ensure all work adheres to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Maximum lifting requirement: 100 pounds (assisted, infrequently), 50 pounds (occasionally), 25 pounds (frequently).
  • Maximum moving requirement: 100 pounds with assisted lifting.
  • Maintain physical condition necessary for frequent standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting upper body; infrequent climbing, kneeling, or sitting.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • Metal fabrication/assembly shop including oven area.
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat (non-weather conditions), toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts/equipment, and sharp materials.
  • Required personal protective equipment: Safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.

Position Requirements:

Key Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

  • Ability to read and understand job requirements, shop drawings, bills of material, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of core materials, structural metals, and related materials (on-the-job training provided).
  • Skill in operating and maintaining core manufacturing equipment and related tools (on-the-job training provided).
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.

Experiential:

  • One or more years of manufacturing or related experience is desirable. On-the-job training will be provided.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Forklift operator certification is desirable but not essential.
